Lifetime Assistance Residential RN's provide nursing oversight and care for people living in our group homes and training to our direct support professionals.

RN's position at Lifetime Assistance do not require weekend, holiday or on-call commitments.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Current New York State licensure as a Registered Nurse. May be required to meet LAI's Vehicle Operator requirements.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, procedures, clinical plans, individual service plans, and regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and other required communication. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of people served, their families, employees and other service providers. Must be able to effectively communicate with people served, staff and other individuals involved in the support and care of those we serve.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of options in situations where only limited instructions exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, or oral form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

May be required to meet OPWDD Level II S.C.I.P.-R. (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention-Revised) requirements. The employee must frequently lift, transfer, and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Location: Eisenberg 72 (EI72), Hematology (General Care) Patient Care Type: This unit specializes in patients with cancer. The unit provides inpatient nursing care to patients with leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, various hematopoietic disorders, and solid tumor cancers such as breast, lung, and colon cancer. Patients may be hospitalized during various stages of their wellness/illness from initial diagnosis through active treatment, recovery, or through end of life. Care is provided primarily to adults age 18 and over. Bed #: 25 private rooms including 4 rooms that support patients requiring radioactive isolation. All rooms are equipped with a ceiling lift for staff and patient safety. Nursing Team Roles: Patient care services include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, pain management, blood transfusions, antibiotic therapy, infusion therapy, central line care, care for patients preparing for or recovering from a blood and marrow transplant, teaching, and emotional support. The Mayo Nursing Care Model is the nursing care delivery system. Emotional support, patient/family teaching, and discharge planning are integral components of the nursing care. As part of the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, the unit participates in individual and group cancer research programs. For new grad nurses: All newly graduated Registered Nurses with less than 12 months of practice experience, hired into a scheduled FTE Registered Nurse position on the Rochester campus of Mayo Clinic are automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program. A separate application or enrollment process is not required. All nurses new to Mayo Clinic, regardless of experience, will receive an extensive orientation program. The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and adequacy of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects. Qualifications Student or Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN- formerly NLN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). If graduated from a nursing program that was not accredited by ACEN or CCNE, at least one year of RN experience (within the last 5 years) in an applicable care setting is required. If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is required or, effective October 1st, 2017 one year of current LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required. All associate degree or diploma registered nurses hired into the Department of Nursing with a RN start date after September 1, 2010, must provide documented evidence of program completion of their baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within 5 years from the last day of the month of their RN start date. Additional qualifications One year RN experience within the last five years preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills. Internal applicants should submit their three most recent performance appraisals. License or certification Must obtain prior to start date: Current RN license by applicable state requirements. Arizona and Florida: Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. Midwest: Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers- BCLS – certificate of course completion required and must not expire within 3 months after start date.
