Job Description:

Med-Surg, Tele & Neuro Experience – Required

This is a Med Surg floor with higher acuity, situated between a standard Med Surg and a Progressive floor. You will care for patients with a variety of diagnoses, with a particular focus on neuroscience patients. These include:

• Traumatic Brain Injuries (severe concussions, brain bleeds)
• Stroke patients (symptoms or recovery)
• Post-operative neuro surgery (craniotomies, spine surgery, headache patients)
• Some fall risk patients

You must be quick on your feet as there is minimal downtime. Patients may have underlying conditions such as dementia, confusion, behavioral health, and mental health concerns.

We care for spine surgery patients and those who have undergone craniotomy and craniectomy for brain tumor resection, removal, debulking, and elective aneurysm interventions. Our general neurology patients include those who have experienced acute stroke, seizure, chronic headaches, and general neurological disorders including Guillain-Barré Syndrome, multiple sclerosis, and myasthenia gravis exacerbations. As a med/surg unit, we also provide quality care for many general medicine patients, such as those with pneumonia, cellulitis, GI bleeds, and alcohol withdrawal.

Job Duties:

• Deliver nursing care responsibly and accountably as described by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the State of Michigan.
• Demonstrate competency through the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Uphold the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA, including ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
• Strive to achieve optimal outcomes and support both our Med Surg units and Progressive units.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 per week
