The Registered Nurse on Medicine treats patients#with a variety of medical illnesses including but not limited to: Diabetes, Digestive disorders, Cellulitis, Septicemia, COPD, CHF and Pneumonia.
Special services particular to the medicine unit include but are not limited to: IV therapy, Blood transfusions, Tube feedings, Glucometer monitoring, Foley catheters, Nasogastric suctioning, Trach care and Wound Vac management. Special procedures performed on the medicine units include but are not limited to:
Nasogastric tube placement, Assisting with central line insertions, Thoracentesis, Paracentesis and bone marrow biopsies. The Registered Nurse provides safe therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way, incorporating differences into the provision of care. Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum to include patient and family education.
Relies on education and training to complete responsibilities within scope of licensure as registered nurse. Education Graduate of accredited school of nursing Licensure Current Louisiana State license as RN and BLS certification ACLS certification is required after 6 months of employment. , BLS Certification upon hire , EKG Course completed within 6 months416
