Knoxville Rehabilitation Hospital is a tri-ventrue between Kindred Healthcare, Tennova Healthcare and the University of Tennessee Medical Center. The 57-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee will provide care for patients across an 11-county region with impairments resulting from a traumatic medical situation, such as stroke, serious spinal cord and brain injury, neurologic illness, major multiple trauma, and orthopedic conditions with complex or profound impairments.


Provides planning and delivery of direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process of Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation. Develops nursing care plan in coordination with patient, family and interdisciplinary staff as necessary. Communicates changes in patient's clinical condition with Physicians, Nursing Supervisor/Manager, and co-workers as appropriate. Participates in discharges planning process. Day and night roles available.


  • Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.

  • Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.

  • Provides patient and family teaching throughout the rehabilitation stay and prior to discharge.

  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.

  • Works cooperatively and actively participates with other members of the interdisciplinary team.

  • Participates in Continuous Quality and Performance Improvement (CQPI).

  • Maintains positive relationships with all customers.

  • Promotes rehabilitation nursing philosophy and scope of practice.

  • Actively participates in team conferences.

  • Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.

  • Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.

  • Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.

  • Provides a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff and complies with appropriate and approved safety standards.

  • Supports the leadership for the hospital in a professional manner and acts as a role model.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Graduation from an accredited Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.

  • Current state licensure as Registered Nurse.

  • CPR/BCLS certification. ACLS preferred.

  • CRRN Preferred

  • Minimum six months' Medical/Surgical experience in an acute care setting preferred.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities About Our Career Opportunity Summit Medical Group at Deane Hill, a division of Summit Medical Group, has an opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join their practice. This is a full time opportunity, working Monday through Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (List does not include all duties assigned) * Prepares and updates patient records as required by physician(s)/practitioner(s) using electronic medical records (EHR) system. * Contacts patients regarding test results or other related reasons as directed. * Escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares patients for examinations and procedures according to physician preferences including the recording of vital signs of patients (pulse, blood pressure, height, weight, etc.) * Performing appropriate procedures such as phlebotomy, injections, EKGs, holter monitor, etc. and assisting the physician(s) and/or providers with other procedures as appropriate. * Administering medications and conducting patient education as required. * Maintains stocked, neat and clean exam rooms and common work areas on a daily basis. * Handles phone nursing when appropriate, to include triaging, pre-certs, referrals, calling in prescriptions, etc. * Adheres to established company policies and procedures (including the corporate compliance program), and follows state and federal regulations, such as OSHA and HIPAA guidelines. * Adheres to site-specific protocols and expectations. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Prefer vocational or college credits. Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience in a medical office setting required. * Required competency using EHR and Microsoft Outlook.
