You will be responsible for:
INFECTION PREVENTIONIST RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews, analyzes and applies existing standards and/or guidelines of applicable professional organizations, accreditation organizations, regulatory and governmental agencies
Consults with Chair of Therapeutics Committee and Medical Director of Emergency Department whenever professional guidance is needed
Works in conjunction with the Chair of Therapeutics Committee to evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of the Infection Prevention program.
Reviews microbiological data on a daily basis for significant findings and advises appropriate personnel as necessary regarding significant findings
Apply epidemiologic principles and statistical methods to identify trends and risk factors, designs and evaluates prevention and control strategies
Generates and analyzes surveillance data using standardized definitions and basic statistical techniques. Reports outcomes.
Critically evaluates significance of surveillance findings and compares those to external data sources
Prepares agenda and minutes for the Infection Prevention section of Therapeutics Committee
Maintains documentation to Infection Prevention programs, nosocomial infections and reportable diseases
Distributes Infection Prevention data to Medical Staff, Department Directors and others as appropriate
Reports information required by City and/or State Health Departments, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or other official agencies.
Provides Infection Prevention education during orientation and as learning needs are identified
Assesses the educational needs within the facility and provides educational sessions.
Assists with discharge education for patients with an infectious or communicable disease.
Evaluates educational programs or tools related to Infection Prevention on a regular basis.
Provides consultation to Administration, committees, and Directors on issues regarding Infection Prevention
Assists other departments in development and review of policies and procedures as related to Infection Prevention
Reviews and updates the Infection Prevention Plan annually to include goals and measurable objectives
Participates in the AH North Pinellas multi-disciplinary approach for Quality Improvement Strategies.
Identifies opportunities for improvement based on data and observations, and integrates these into the FHNP's overall Performance Improvement Plan
Coordinates the implementation of the Infection Prevention policies within the hospital
Actively participates in assigned committees
Assists in the evaluation of new products and equipment as related to Infection Prevention
Develops and manages the Infection Prevention budget.
EMPLOYEE HEALTH MANAGER RESPONSIBILITES (BY DIRECT PERFORMANCE OR BY DELEGATION TO EMPLOYEE HEALTH NURSE)
Actively participates and monitors the Employee Health Program.
Consults with Occupational Health physician per protocol
Coordinates post-employment physicals
Coordinates employee immunization program
Conducts employee PPD testing program
Reviews employee titers and makes recommendations as necessary
Investigates all cases of employee exposures to communicable diseases and blood and/or body fluids
Conducts follow-up for exposure to blood and body fluids
Administers injections as needed by employees presenting with proper documentation
Provides Employee Health orientation to all new personnel
Develops and monitors an injury and illness surveillance system. The system integrates monitoring, reporting and prevention through trending
Develops a system for identifying high-risk employees and staff. The system monitors employee immunization status for infectious diseases
Tracks and reports work related infectious diseases to Chair Therapeutics Committee
Trends employee sickness for possible causes and employee outbreaks
Tracks employee injuries and illnesses as related to their work
Provides clinical treatment (within scope of practice) for work-related injuries and illnesses
Coordinates efforts with the Corporate Health and Safety Officer to improve the quality of patient care, utilization of services, treatment and prevention of injuries
Participates in the development of all hospital safety and health programs.
Coordinates all testing and result reporting to requirements of the hospital's Drug Free Work Place Program.
What will you need?
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Ability to use various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office suite
Registered Nurse with licensure in State of Florida or experienced Infection Preventionist with MPH degree
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Certification by Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) within one (1) year of employment
Experience in management of infection prevention and control program at acute care hospital, including planning, implementing, managing and evaluating infection prevention and control activities
Experience in Employee Health program management
Critical Care or Emergency Department nursing experience (Preferred)
Masters degree (Preferred)
Previous experience with Cerner Electronic Medical Record (Preferred)
Previous experience with Systoc Employee Health software (Preferred)
