Able to interpret data about the patient status in order to identify each patient#s age-specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group. Assess and reassess pain.# Utilizes appropriate pain management tools and techniques.# Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.# Documentation reflects assessments, interventions and evaluation of effectiveness. Develops and revises individualized plans of care as indicated by assessment and patient response to treatment.#### Evaluates overall plan daily for effectiveness.# Involves the patient and family in the formulation of goals. Two years of hospital experience in a health care organization within the past two years in critical care Current BLS certification Current ACLS certification Cannot be currently employed at Waterbury Hospital or ECHN. # # Orientation: Clinical orientation must be completed within 30 days of hospital orientation.#### Continuing Education:
Employees are required to successfully complete all hospitals# mandatory education. It is the employee#s responsibility to complete and return all continuing education documents, i.e. certificates/forms by the posted due date to document knowledge of recent changes. # # Work Requirement: A minimum of 24 hours per month, this includes (1) 12-hour weekend shift (weekend starts Friday 11pm- 7am Monday). A maximum of 60 hours per month will be permitted. May float to medical-surgical unit, telemetry, or step down if indicated. Population serviced includes adult, geriatric patients and upon occasion, adolescents. Reports to the Associate Director of Operations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and implement a plan of care and demonstrate leadership to ensure all patient/family needs are met. Monitor patients before, during and after surgery and /or procedures to provide safe, efficient care. Evaluate the plan of care and the patient#s responses: reassess and revise the plan based upon changing needs and priorities. Demonstrate the skill and judgment necessary to implement Physician#s orders, nursing interventions and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient. Maintain up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the health care team and to insure the totality of quality care. Promote effective working relationships and work cooperatively as part of the department team to facilitate the department#s ability to meet its goal and objectives. Contributes to Quality Improvement activities and participates in the departmental Quality Improvement Program. Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team Ability to work in a time-oriented environment including exposure to all patient elements, i.e. blood borne pathogens, physical requirements; lifting and pulling of patients, pushing stretchers, standing and walking for extended periods of time wearing a lead apron. Ability to demonstrate and perform strengthening and toning exercises. Ability to interact with patients with tact and confidentiality. Graduate of an accredited Nursing (RN) Program Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to the position.
