Position Summary
Provides and is responsible for all pre and post care of the GI patient, and intra procedure care as assigned. Delegates patient care duties to support personnel and completes project work as assigned. The Registered Nurse takes into account physical, psychological, social, cultural and developmental needs of the patient and provides direct and indirect nursing care by utilizing the nursing process and determines the objectives of nursing care within the framework of the physicians' plan of care.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Provides pre and post care of the GI patient, and intra procedure care as assigned; completes accurate documentation in the electronic medical record, administers IVs and medications, assesses patients, orders follow-up tests and appointments, and provides education to patients and families. Utilizes nursing process in the assessment and care of the patient prior to, during and after a procedure taking into consideration standards of nursing care.
Provides competent care and sedation of the patient intra-procedure, as assigned.
Completes preparation of charts as assigned, ensuring essential documentation is available for procedure and pertinent issues are addressed prior to procedure. Assures information required to successfully measure and report care quality measures are properly documented for all procedures.
Delegates patient care duties to support personnel according to their level of knowledge and expertise, all while practicing the teamwork approach to patient care.
Completes project work as requested, including but not limited to quality improvement, infection control, safety, recording meeting minutes, chart audits, medication and supply ordering, policy reviews, post calls/patient follow-up, and education of peers.
Participates in the development, maintenance, and review of endoscopic policies, procedures, and protocols.
Participates in various center committees (Quality Improvement, Infection Control, and Safety) as needed. Understands committee functions and works to achieve committee goals.
Maintains proficiency in endoscopic nursing skills and equipment utilized throughout the delivery of patient care.
Assumes responsibility for personal growth in regard to knowledge of current procedures, techniques and trends. Attends in-services and educational opportunities as presented.
Completes all annual competencies related to the performance of the Registered Nurse.
Serves as a resource and role model to peer and co-workers in the delivery of patient care, personal conduct, and appearance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Associate Degree in Nursing required.
Licensure/Certification
Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Wisconsin required.
BLS and ACLS certification required.
Experience
Minimum of two years nursing experience highly preferred.
Experience in GI or an outpatient procedure setting preferred.

Maintain structure of the Endoscopy Center protocols while considering compassionate care for our patients.
Proficient computer skills working in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Demonstrates professionalism and respect in all forms of communication and correspondence.
Advanced clinical nursing assessment and documentation skills.
Abilities
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of health information.
Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment and cope with rapidly changing patient care needs.
