You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Completes and documents patient assessments, provides interventions with accurate administration and calculation of medications and the responses, as per department protocols' and AH policy.

  • Utilizes specific knowledge in emergency care of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

  • Adheres to safety requirements and applies caution remaining alert to hazards at all times, while transporting patients. Utilizes proficiency in radio communications and emergency procedures.

  • Communicates patient updates to physicians and receiving units through dispatch for medical control.

  • Completes timely patient care documentation for patient hand off and safety.

Qualifications

What Will You Need:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Three years experience in an emergency department/critical care unit which may include CV-ICU/ICU/CL/CCU/Neuro ICU
  • Five years of patience care experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • BSN
  • OB and Peds experience

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • Current valid State of Florida or multi state license as a registered professional nurse.

  • Trauma Nurse Course Certified (TNCC)

LICENSURE OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

  • Certified Emergency RN/Critical Care RN (CEN/CCRN)
  • Instructor status in one certification (ACLS, PALS, or TNCC)
  • Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) Transport RN certification

Job Summary:

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Under general supervision, the Transport Nurse is responsible for the safe transport of critically ill patients, working jointly with appropriate staff (i.e. EMT, CCEMT-P, Flight RT) in patient care decisions. Completes and documents patient assessments, treatments, medication, reactions as per department protocols and AH policy. Adheres to all safety requirements while transporting patients, in and around vehicles/aircraft. Communicates patient updates to physicians with hand of care to receiving RN and appropriate triage of urgency. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

Click here for a virtual tour of our East Orlando campus! Unit Highlights * The Intermediate Critical Care Unit at AdventHealth East Orlando is a 16-bed unit multi-systems unit with a cardiac blend. Nurse to patient ratios is 1:3, and assignments are made based on acuity. Our nurses have exposure to a wide array of patient conditions from a diverse patient population with cases including renal failure, respiratory failure with ventilator management, septic shock with MODS, pulmonary, post-cardiac and more. * Our multi-disciplinary Critical Care team consists of intensivists, registered nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, case managers, social workers, and chaplains. Our nurses are fully engaged and are an integral part of patient rounds, case reviews, morbidity and mortality/performance improvement reviews, as well as focused professional practice in critical care. * Our nursing team works closely with our 24-hour intensivist team to provide optimal care for our patients and comfort for their families. We have an on-site provider, available for support should the patient require an escalation of care. * Our unit consists of highly engaged nurses with dedicated preceptors who love to teach eager new nurses. Critical care requires an educational curriculum and competency assessment beyond general critical care concepts. Our nurses received focused education and competency assessment for common critical care concepts, monitoring, procedures and devices. * We are focused on intentional education as well as partnering with subject matter experts to help our team members grow and thrive on this challenging and exciting unit.
