Schedule: Rotating, 12 hour shifts
FTE: 72 hours per two week pay period
Rady Children's Emergency Care Center is the only emergency care center in the region dedicated to caring for kids and the only Level I pediatric trauma center in San Diego County. With services available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, we have one of the busiest emergency care departments in the United States, serving about 100,000 children a year. Our staff members, which include 50 pediatric emergency physician specialists, 8 pediatric emergency fellows, 125 emergency nurses with specialty certification in pediatric emergency nursing, and medical social workers, are educated and trained to care for the special needs of children.
Functions at the Standard Level of nursing practice. Responsible for independently applying the nursing process through the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of pediatric patient care.
Selects and administers the appropriate care, taking into consideration the age, developmental level and size of the patient. Provides a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing. Should be able to identify own limitations and seek resources as needed.
Associate's Degree in Nursing
1 year of experience
Current California RN License
BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA
PALS (within 6 months of hire)
ENPC (within 6 months of hire if no previous Peds ER experience; Only required once)
TNCC and ACLS (within one year of hire)
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
3 years of experience
Professional nursing certification
Pediatric nursing experience in a comparable, high-acuity department
