The RN provides direct nursing care for individuals, families, groups, and communities in response to common well-defined, and complex interactive nursing diagnosis and collaborative practice. The RN plans and implements comprehensive admission to post-discharge nursing care through direct care and delegation of care to other nursing personnel consistent with their levels of preparation and job descriptions. The RN uses complex communication skills with the patient to provide comprehensive teaching and promote effective coping behaviors. The RN manages nursing care of patients in order to provide high-quality, safe, cost-effective nursing care from admission to post-discharge from the institution. Collaboration with other healthcare team members facilitates health promotion and continuity of care. The RN will be expected to care for people across the life span (neonates to geriatrics).

Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
Direct or oversee less-experienced nursing or healthcare personnel or oversee a particular unit.
Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
Instruct individuals, families, or other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, or childbirth to develop health improvement programs.
Assess the needs of individuals, families, or communities, including assessment of individuals' home or work environments, to identify potential health or safety problems.
Refer students or patients to specialized health resources or community agencies furnishing assistance.
Consult with institutions or associations regarding issues or concerns relevant to the practice and profession of nursing.
Conduct specified laboratory tests as necessary.
Engage in research activities related to nursing and patient care.
Collaborate with healthcare providers regarding appropriate drugs, medical devices, or other forms of treatment, such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's condition.
Assist with administrative functions, such as taking responsibility for a unit's staff, budget, planning, or long-range goals.
Participate in seminars and training as necessary for continued learning pertaining to the provision of nursing care.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet the needs of patients, the department and the organization as a whole.

Requirements
Education:
Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Nursing
Bachelor's Degree ( four year college) Preferred, Field of Study: Nursing
Computer Skills:
Certifications & Licenses:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license and able to practice in the State of Wisconsin
Certified BLS and ACLS according to policy
