Your experience, knowledge and great skills will support BHN with the following:

  • Providing direct care within the scope of practice to implement patients' plans of care properly.

  • Monitoring physical and psychiatric medication self-administration and residents' health and milieu staff who oversee medication self-administration.

  • Administering all detoxification medications in accordance with established protocols and orders.

  • Providing individuals served with education regarding their illness, problems, treatment and prognosis.

  • Collecting data related to individual served status and needs.

  • Maintaining strict confidentiality of individuals served information at all times in accordance with 42 CFR.

BHN provides comprehensive, outcome-driven behavioral health care. We are dedicated to offering high quality, affordable and culturally appropriate care to people of all ages and income levels in our constituent communities.

This new BHN program serves women who have been designated for substance use disorder treatment via the legal system. The program offers acute treatment (ATS) and crisis stabilization (CSS) services.

What are we looking for in a Registered Nurse?

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Nursing (required).

  • Current Nursing License by the Massachusetts Board of Registration as a Registered Nurse (required).

  • At least one year of nursing experience (preferred).

  • Proficiency in applying the nursing process to individuals served and their families.

  • Ability to collaborate with other caregivers.

  • Ability to delegate to peers and other caregivers consistent with their level of expertise.

  • Knowledge of utilization and review standards and implementation.

  • Ability to advocate for individuals served.

  • Ability to understand, empathize and work with an addicted population, including those with co-occurring disorders.

  • Working knowledge of ethics and legal parameters of working with substance abuse individuals.

  • Knowledge of quality assurance standards and CARF standards.

VIEW JOBS 7/10/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-10-08T00:00 Job Description The hospice nurse helps coordinate and administer hospice care for patients, families and caregivers through the utilization of hospice resources. The hospice nurse is experienced in nursing with an emphasis on community health education and experience. The hospice nurse utilizes hospice and community resources to help coordinate and drive services through a plan of care to meet the needs of patients and families. Responsibilities: * Demonstrates understanding of the hospice philosophy/principles and an ability to clearly articulate these with others. * Supports ongoing management of the plan of care from referral through discharge for hospice patients and families per regulations and agency standards. * Completes initial nursing assessment of patient/family to determine hospice needs. * Provides complete physical assessment and history of current and previous illness(es). * Initiates and implements plan of care in collaboration with patient/family with goals and interventions that promote optimal patient outcomes while maintaining patient dignity, autonomy and comfort. * Coordinates ongoing provision of medications, durable medical equipment, nursing supplies and contracted services with effective cost management strategies. Anticipates/makes provisions for after hours needs. * Administers medications/treatments as prescribed by the physician. Observes/documents response to interventions, promptly communicates untoward reactions and modifies plan of care as indicated. * Develops hospice aide plan of care in timely manner and supervises with revisions in plan of care as appropriate. * Coordinates plan of care for patients residing in facilities. Acts as liaison to family members and facility staff regarding communication of plan of care. * Coordinates patient care with team, family and physician for assigned caseload. * Completes, maintains and submits accurate and relevant clinical notes regarding patient's condition and care. Documents measurable outcomes related to symptom management. * Participates in on call (evening and nights), holiday and weekend rotation to insure agency ability to provide 24 hour coverage. Job Requirements * An Associate's Degree in Nursing is required. * A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. * Possesses and maintains current CPR Certification. * Current Massachusetts licensure: Registered Nurse * Valid driver's license * Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse Certification preferred * Minimum of one (1) to two (2) year's experience in health care. * Experience in a hospice, homecare or Long Term Care preferred. * Experience in acute care in an institutional setting preferred. * Understands hospice philosophy, and issues of death/dying.
