Summary/Objective
The Assistant Director of Infection Prevention assists with the direction of operations concerning infection prevention on the main campus and outlying areas. These duties include infection surveillance, prevention and control based on the Hospital's risk assessment and other needs in accordance with state, federal and other reporting requirements.

Assists the director in the development and implementation of a multidisciplinary infection control/prevention program for the hospital and outlying areas (Wound Care Center, Behavioral Health, and all Cancer Centers) based on evidence, accreditation and regulatory standards and evaluates/revises infection control policies based on said program.
Based on the identified risks, sets and prioritized goals and establishes a surveillance plan to minimize the possibility of transmitting infections.
Identifying risk for acquiring and transmitting infections, analysis, surveillance activities, preventing healthcare acquired infections and collecting other data critical to infection control.
Collaborates with Employee Health and other pertinent stakeholders in the provision of assessment and potential testing, prophylaxis/treatment or counseling when patients, staff or licensed independent practitioners have been exposed to communicable disease.
Investigates risks and potential outbreaks.
Coordinates and leads performance improvement projects for the prevention and control of hospital acquired infection and/or potential outbreaks.
Required Education and Experience
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
3 - 5 years related experience
Required License/Certifications
Current RN License in the state of Texas
CBIC Certification or accomplished within two years.
