DOC is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Registered Nurse {RN) On Call positions at the Mission Creek Corrections Center for Women in Belfair, Washington. MISSION CREEK CORRECTIONS CENTER FOR WOMEN is a minimum-custody facility for adult women. MCCCW'.s focus is to prepare female incarcerated individuals for their transition back into our communities. To do this, DOC provides opportunity for pre-screened incarcerated individuals to work on supervised work crews which include sustainable projects, fish hatchery projects, salmon habitat preservation, and other community and park maintenance. The incarcerated individuals learn to develop good work ethics, expand their work skills and abilities, and provide a service to the community.

In addition, the facility provides other programs to enhance successful reentry.

The facility is located Tahuya State Forest outside Belfair, Washington about 30 minutes south of Bremerton. Some staff choose to live close by; others commute from surrounding areas of Bremerton, Gig Harbor, or Tacoma. Close to the Olympic Mountains, Hood Canal, and Case Inlet, the area affords opportunity for many kinds of outdoor activities and water sports. Some of what our RN's do:

• The registered nurse delivers services which promote health, foster healing, and support coping and adjustment to various health conditions.

• Screening, assessing, and evaluating offenders and the conditions

• Responding to all other requests for health care attention in a complete, timely, clinically appropriate and therapeutic manner;

• Delegating and supervising work, monitoring, managing, coordinating, and delivering health care;

• Planning transition, making referrals and arranging follow-up when patients transfer or return to the community;

• Assisting patients to improve their skill and ability to provide care for themselves and their family ;

• Counseling, consulting, teaching, advising, and providing health information that improves quality of health services and/or enhances safety and security.

• Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.

• Active and unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in Washington State. If you currently hold an active an unencumbered multi-state/compact licensure from another state, you must change your primary state of residence to WA and apply for a WA State Multi-State licensure within 60 days of employment. 

• AND One year experience working as a Registered Nurse.

• Must be AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) (Advanced Cardiac Life Support and others will not substitute for BLS)

Note: Must have initial and continuous unencumbered/unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse.

• Tuberculosis (TB) is a priority health issue for DOC employees. The successful candidate may be required to provide valid proof of a baseline TB skin test within 60 days from the date of hire.  When positive tests result, further information, testing and treatment may also be required. Employment is not contingent upon test results.

• This position may be represented by a Union Shop.

• Requires respirator medical evaluation questionnaire, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by the WA Industrial Safety & Act standards. Refer to WAC 296-842 to learn more.

• Must be able to work in spaces, climb stairs, walk long distances, and frequently lift up to 30 pounds. Under rare circumstances this position may be required to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and push up to 100 pounds
