Registered Nurse 2-Interventional Radiology

  • The Interventional Radiology department performs a variety of procedures from vascular access, to complex cancer treatment, peripheral vascular interventions, and stroke and aneurysm treatments

  • Position is full-time Day shift, Monday - Friday. 3-12hr shifts/wk. (9-9 or 11-11), no weekends or Holidays, no call

Position Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates consistent safe and effective use of medical devices in the delivery of patient care.

  • Demonstrates accountability for implementing policies related to safe and effective administration of medications.

  • Assesses patient safety needs consistently and implements appropriate strategies to minimize risk.

  • Collaborates consistently and effectively with other disciplines and services to meet the needs of patients.

  • Communicates current evidence-based information with peers. Participates in the collection of data to support unit based quality initiatives, research and evidence based activities.

  • Recognizes pattern/ groupings of problems in a specific patient population that require investigation and initiates actions to address.

  • Establishes a caring, therapeutic relationship with patients and families through effective communication, acknowledgement of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes.

  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively precept staff and students on the unit.

  • Delegates effectively and consistently to optimize patient outcomes.

Position Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor's degree (BSN) required; Master's (MSN) preferred.

  • Current state of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure required

  • 2 years recent critical care experience.

  • Current CPR certification- BLS required; successful completion of ACLS after 6 months required.

  • Work requires the ability to walk throughout the Medical Center and to be standing or walking most of the designated shifts Demonstrated clinical expertise in the care of the cardiac patient population and previous work experience in a Recovery, ICU or step-down setting required.

  • Current CPR certification- BLS required; successful completion of ACLS after 6 months required.

  • Work requires lifting or carrying objects 35-40lbs and supporting and positioning patients some whom may exceed 300lbs.

  • Work conditions include performing procedures where carelessness could result in injury or illness and/or contact with potentially infectious materials and/or strong chemical agents.
