POSITION SUMMARY

The Certified Med Tech is responsible to set up and administer medications and to function as a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.). Will provide routine daily nursing care to assigned residents in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations as well as facility's established nursing care policies and procedures. Reports to Charge Nurse or other Nursing Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Must have ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the essential functions of the job.

  • Prepare, administer and document medications following accepted practices, and in accordance with regulations.

  • Assist resident with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, changing of bed linens, and positioning in and out of bed, chair, etc.

  • Assist with resident recreation programs.

  • Prepare residents for meals and snacks.

  • Assist residents in eating where needed and record food intake.

  • Read and follow daily care plans

  • Perform assigned restorative and rehabilitative procedures.

  • Report changes in resident condition to Nurse in Charge.

  • Document care provision on resident record as required.

  • Report accidents and incidents.

  • Provide nursing functions as directed by supervisor.

  • Assist in admission, transfer and discharge of residents.

  • Comply with all Company policies related to safety and infection control procedures including the use of mechanical lifts, gait belts and personal protective back supports.

  • Understand, comply with and promote all rules and regulations regarding residents' rights; promote positive relationships with residents, visitors and regulators, to include a professional appearance.

  • Attend and participate in educational activities, in-service training and staff meetings; assist in orientation and training other staff.

  • Participate in Quality Improvement activities as assigned.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient and company proprietary information.

  • Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families and other employees at all levels.

  • Other duties as assigned or needed.

SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED.

  • Computer Skills:
    Must be able to interact with automated resident information collection system

  • Certificates and Licenses: Must be certified as a Certified Medication Aide and must also be a Certified Nursing Assistant from state-approved C.N.A. Program.

PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB POSITION The primary ??ource of your job position is to provide routine resident care and housekeeping duties in accordance with our established policies and procedures and as may be directed by the Administrator or Owners of Care Corner as to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be administrated at all times. Major Duties and Responsibilities * Answer call bells to determine residents' needs * Assist resident with baths and hair care needs as the Service Plan indicates and record in Bath Book. * Helping resident with clothing to be sure resident is properly dressed. * Keeping fingernails and toenails trimmed and record in Bath Book. DO NOT DO DIABETIC NAILS REPORT TO THE ADMINISTRATOR WHEN NAILS NEED TO BE TRIMMED. * Help gentlemen shave. * Brushing/or soaking teeth for resident. * Give medications (Medication Aids Only). * May be asked to accompany resident to doctor and hospital. * Keep a list of resident's personal needs (such as soap, shampoo, lotions, etc.). * Making sure closets and dresser drawers, nightstand drawers, etc. are neatly kept. Help to keep drawers neat and clothes folded and hung up. Keep top of dresser drawers neat and clean. * Help to keep food items in kitchen marked with resident's name. Only fresh fruit and wrapped candy in sealed containers may be kept in room-Report any problems to Administrator. * Overseeing general needs of all residents * Health and Welfare * Signs of Depression and Social Needs * Communicating with residents throughout the day * Reporting all problems to Administration * Attends in-services, education and staff meetings * Is able to take supervision and benefits from constructive criticism * Responsible for complete and thorough performance of assigned tasks * Follows established rules, regulations and policies * Demonstrates economic use of equipment and supplies * Demonstrates an awareness of safe conditions and safe acts as related to our Home. * Exhibits cooperation, self-control and courtesy in relating to co-workers and jobrelated contacts * Demonstrates respect for authority, discusses problems and follows chain of command * Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to assure residents rights are protected. * Complies with attendance requirements * Willingness to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary * Have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as being willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning. * Help to keep food items in kitchen marked with resident's name.
