Cardiovascular Medicine at Domino's Farms is currently seeking a part-time (30 hours per week) Clinical Dietitian to provide specialized comprehensive medical nutrition therapy as part of cardiovascular disease management for individuals and groups in a multidisciplinary preventive cardiovascular specialty clinic.
The incumbent will be directly responsible to Nutrition Manager of Cardiovascular Medicine at Domino's Farms for practice and professional issues. She/he will also have a reporting relationship to managers and /or the medical director of Cardiovascular Medicine at Domino's Farms. The incumbent will be expected to collaborate with dietitians, physicians, nurses, exercise physiologists, researchers, and other health care groups at Michigan Medicine, in the community and at a national level.
Age of Population Served: Adult, Geriatric, and Adolescent.
Apply a focused Nutrition Care Process and outcomes management for the Lipid Management Program, Hypertension Program, Obesity and Metabolic Clinic, and referrals from other providers at Cardiovascular Medicine at Domino's Farms, within Michigan Medicine as well as community physicians referring for specialized cardiovascular nutrition concerns including dyslipidemias including complex lipid disorders, rare lipid disorders such as lipodystrophy and chylomiconemia syndrome, hypertension, heart failure, diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, stroke, peripheral vascular disease. Utilize motivational interviewing and empowerment techniques.
Document nutrition therapy in MiChart and through letters to referring physicians.
Serve as nutrition lead for the Metabolic Fitness Program: develop and implement the cardiovascular nutrition component of the Metabolic Fitness Program, a six-month program designed to treat metabolic syndrome through a multidisciplinary approach with experience and education in nutrition, exercise training, and stress management. Use the Nutrition Care Process to provide individual and group medical nutrition services to participants in the Metabolic Fitness Program including incorporating cooking classes into the nutrition curriculum and implementing a follow-up program.
Participate in the design, implementation, collection and analysis of data, manuscript writing, and presentation at national conferences on data from outcomes research in the Metabolic Fitness and Cardiovascular Nutrition Clinic.
Participate in strategic planning, marketing, development and implementation of the Metabolic Fitness Program and new cardiovascular nutrition programs across the Frankel Cardiovascular Center.
Develop, evaluate and revise (collaboratively with colleagues) new nutrition education materials.
Participate in the education and supervision of dietetic interns from the School of Public Health, medical residents, medical residents from Primary and Specialty Care, and other Allied Health Professionals, as requested.
Serve as a resource for other members of the cardiovascular health care team across the Frankel Cardiovascular Center.
Registration by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Masters degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience? some progressively responsible experience as a Clinical Dietitian are necessary.
Previous experience in cardiovascular medical nutrition therapy.
Experience in group facilitation and education.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and attendance record.
Applicant must be available for evening, early morning and weekend hours.
Clinical Lipid Specialist; background or degree in exercise physiology; lifestyle coaching training and experience, background or degree in culinary science; Certified Diabetes Educator, research experience: writing research proposals for grant applications, initiating research protocols, data collection, data analysis, writing papers for publications, experience with outcomes management or research? published in the area of clinical nutrition or related field? experience with writing, design and production of print and web materials? experience with social media or e health to communicate nutrition and lifestyle messages.
30 hours per week, Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:30 pm and other hours as determined by the Department.
