Unit DescriptionSodexo is seeking a Registered Dietitian to aid in our new and growing outpatient services at Northwest Texas Healthcare in Amarillo, TX. Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, Texas, a 495-bed acute care facility and medical center, has been providing high quality medical care to the residents of Northwest Texas since 1924. As a designated tertiary care academic institution, the hospital provides patients with advanced technological innovations for diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of clinical conditions.
Position will report to Clinical Nutrition Manager and ideal candidate will:
Primary role will be to be an integral member of our team, serving the outpatient population
Be comfortable giving outpatient couseling to varying population with different disease states (including but not limited to: adult - bariatrics, diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, malnutrition, general weight loss. Pediatric - diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, general weight loss, congenital/metabolic diseases, failure to thrive, home tube feeding)
Be outgoing and eager to engage with doctors offices, health fairs, and the Northwest Texas Hospital Wellness Works Coordinator
Be responsible, organized, and have time management skills in order to schedule patient appointments, openly communicate with doctor's offices and provide prompt outpatient notes via fax or email, place charges after appointments, and other clerical tasks such as creating handouts, research, etc.
Have the ability to aid in inpatient care on weekends, holidays, etc.
Have ability to creatively problem solve, work independently with minimal supervision and use good judgment to make decisions and work within a self-directed team oriented work environment
Performs comprehensive nutritional evaluations and follow up
Have effective written and verbal communication for all hospital and departmental programs and activities
Possess great education and training skills to provide nutrition information to a wide variety of audiences
Licensed in Texas
Responsible for providing direct basic nutrition services
Key Duties-Provides nutrition care to population served to ensure needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.
Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction to ensure account retention.-Manages, promotes, and educates others on food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy.
Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, special diets, and menu requests and probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexo resource when necessary.
Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel) by keep abreast of the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.
Follows operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments..
