ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The USF Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is an integral part of USF and its mission by sponsoring a diverse and nationally competitive Division I athletic program. The program serves several significant constituencies, including its student-athletes, who are students first.

The most important priority of the program is the progress of the student-athletes toward graduation. Other priorities include the health, fitness and emotional development of student-athletes at USF Intercollegiate Athletics provide a sense of collegiality, allegiance, and pride for students, staff, faculty, alumni, boosters and the greater Tampa Bay community at large and serves as a focal point for their support. Within the framework of competitive excellence, Intercollegiate Athletics at USF are also a contact vehicle leading supporters to a greater awareness of the University's mission, academic programs and prominence as an educational institution.

POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide nutritional planning, guidance, and counseling to student-athletes within the USF Intercollegiate Athletics program along with the other Dietician on staff. This may include but is not limited to- meal planning, individual weight consultations, body composition measurements, and eating disorders.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform team based nutrition counseling and management based on demand of sport and type of athletes, working directly with coaching staff and athletic trainers.

Provide one-on-one counseling for student-athletes when self-referred, referred from a physician or mental health counselor for evaluation and management. This counseling will also include dietetic plans, medical nutrition therapy and nutrition education for patients.

Develop and conduct nutrition education programs and presentations for the student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, and staff.

Assist in management of supplement review and recommendations.

Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or related field with at least one year of directly related position-specific experience. A Master's degree in Dietetics or Nutrition is Preferred. Licensed as Licensed Dietician or Licensed Nutritionist according to Florida Statutes 468.501 -468.518 (Part X) and/or Registration with the American Dietetic Association.

PREFERRED:

1-3 years of experience working with intercollegiate or professional athletics.
