Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Office Manager and general supervision of the Chief Dental Officer, the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) assists dentist during examination and treatment of patients by performing the following duties.

It is the primary purpose of CHCCC to provide the highest quality of total care possible to the patient population it serves. Such a level of quality depends ultimately on the staff's desire and ability to work together, individually, and as a team. The employee is expected to be professional, punctual, maintain regular attendance, cooperative, organized, and enthusiastic at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares patient, sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays, prepares materials, and assists dentist during dental procedures.

  • Takes and records medical and dental histories and vital signs of patient.

  • Exposes dental diagnostic x-rays.

  • Makes preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts.

  • Pours, trims, and polishes study casts, fabricates custom impression trays from preliminary impressions, cleans and polishes removable appliances, and fabricates temporary restorations.

  • Assists dentist in management of medical and dental emergencies.

  • Instructs patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.

  • Provides postoperative instructions prescribed by Dentist.

  • Records treatment information in patient records.

  • Schedules appointments, prepares bills and receives payment for dental services, completes insurance forms, and maintains clerical records.

  • Applies protective coating of fluoride to teeth. Places rubber dam. Places temporary fillings. Performs coronal polishing.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Training:

RDA Requirements (preferred):

Associates degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school in Dental Assisting. One years work experience preferred. Possession of current, valid Registered Dental Assisting license issued by the state of California including x-ray license and coronal polish license. Possession of current, valid, California drivers license (Class C) and CPR (BLS-C) card.

Dental Assistant Requirements:

High school diploma or GED certificate. Possession of current, valid, California drivers license (Class C) and CPR (BLS-C) card. Completion of accredited course in dental assisting (preferred).

It is the primary purpose of CHCCC to provide the highest quality of total care possible to the patient population it serves. The employee is expected to be professional, punctual, maintain regular attendance, cooperative, organized, and enthusiastic at all times. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Plan, direct organize and implement office procedures for the efficient day-to-day operations of the clinic. * Responsible for orienting and training staff members including instructions in functions unique to the unit. * Review appointment scheduling, deposits, and superbills daily. * Responsible for following and enforcing clinic policies. * Monitors entire clinic operations. * Ensures adequate coverage of front office and medical records staff. * Assesses and organizes front offices operations and functions. * Monitors the patient flow in the front office and trouble shoots any problems. * Ensures superbills, collections and deposits are completed in a timely manner. * Reviews intake and superbills for special program utilization (i.e CHDP, CDP, FP Pact, Gateway, Homeless, PE, EAPC, and sliding fee) and MSO, income and other required UDS guidelines. * Provides ongoing front office training (customer service, medical records, telephone etiquette, etc.) on a regular basis. * Ensures annual competency of all front office staff by using front office skills competency form. * Monitors and conducts audits (medical record, customer satisfaction, failed appointments, wait times, etc.) to ensure compliance with CHC policies, local, state, and or federal guidelines. * Ensures medical records are retained, protected, retrieved, transferred, and disposed of according to CHC policies, local state, and or federal guidelines. * Works closely with Regional Manager to ensure that front office functions are in compliance, and that staff are aware of any updates or changes. * Works closely with Regional Manager to ensure that front office functions are in compliance, and that staff are aware of any updates or changes. * Works closely with and may supervise the Clinical Services Supervisor. * Informs front office and medical records staff of changes affecting their work. * Maintains an efficient system for ordering front office forms and supplies for CHCCC. * Demonstrates adherence to and observes all safety policies and procedures, inclusive of infection control rules and regulations. * Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults or geriatrics). * Demonstrates knowledge of domestic violence, child and dependent abuse protocols. * Maintains and adheres to confidentiality, and privileged communications (patient, employee, and corporation). * Ensures adherence to corporate policies and procedures. * Other duties as assigned Education and Training: Minimum two years of medical office experience. Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes, HIPAA, and medical record laws and regulations. An Associates Degree in a business related field is desirable. Possession of current Accredited Records Technician or Certified Records Technician certificate, preferred. Possession of current, valid, California Driver's License (Class C) and CPR (BLS-C) card.
