Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT) support clients in the residential setting by directly implementing behavioral interventions and other supports being used for the treatment of individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and/or Development Disabilities. RBTs are responsible for assisting Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) with the implementation of behavior reduction and skill acquisition treatment plans. This individual will assist colleagues and clients with day-to-day activities, monitor client behavior, record and collect data on client progress and communicate effectively and professionally with other support staff and supervisors. RBTs may work directly with clients themselves or they may offer support to others working directly with clients. RBTs demonstrate compassion, empathy and discretion with their work. They have excellent communication and time management skills and are able to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, supervisors and colleagues. RBTs must also maintain Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) certification and complete activities relevant to his/her specific BHP Level (I [Job ID 805], II [Job ID 806], or III [Job ID 807]).

JOB DUTIES:

  • Ensure prompt and accurate completion of all necessary clinical and program-related forms including daily data sheets and skill acquisition data.

  • Assist BCBA with development and review of data collection instruments that maximize accuracy, integrity and efficiency.

  • Demonstrate ability to identify functional behavior-environment relationships based on antecedent-behavior-consequence (ABC) data, as well as potentially appropriate interventions to address behaviors of concern/skill deficits.

  • Assist BCBA with monitoring current behavior plan interventions to support with treatment integrity.

  • Demonstrate ability to implement and support others with the implementation of behavior reduction and skill acquisition programs.

  • Work collaboratively with all members of the treatment team (including, but not limited to: client, other direct care staff, shift leaders, Residential leadership, clinicians, BCBAs, etc.) regarding the implementation of behavior modification interventions.

  • Demonstrate fluency with individual client behavioral goals and identified intervention techniques.

  • Participate in Supervisions including: 1:1 Supervision with BCBA, as well as Group Supervision. This involves demonstrating knowledge of client, progress toward treatment goals and an open dialogue regarding thoughts and ideas regarding how to support the client with the ultimate goal of discharge to a less restrictive setting.

  • Maintain clear lines of communication with peers and supervisors regarding client treatment, professional boundaries and implement BCBA feedback to improve professional performance.

  • Maintain certification in KidsPeace sanctioned and trained de-escalation techniques, physical management practices, as well as ability to identify and demonstrate antecedent and consequence interventions as needed.

  • Assist in the management of aggressive clients using KidsPeace sanctioned and trained techniques.

  • Support BCBAs with training others on how to use interventions and strategies derived from Applied Behavior Analysis.

  • Abide by the RBT Code of Ethics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Registered Behavior Technician certificate.

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of at least 2 years' experience in Health and Human Services field strongly preferred.

  • Possess basic computer knowledge and skills required.

  • Prior experience with use of Applied Behavior Analyst strongly preferred.

  • Valid and current driver's license required.

  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual disability, development disabilities and/or behavioral challenges strongly preferred.
