ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

To provide direct Applied Behavior Analysis/Verbal (ABA/VB) Therapy for participants diagnosed with Autism and other related developmental disabilities.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Implements ABA programs with a variety of students in a 1:1 therapy session for 25-40 hours per week.

  • Uses principles of applied behavior analysis to increase desired skills and decrease problem behavior.

  • Responds to corrective feedback given by supervisor(s) in an appropriate and professional manner.

  • Takes accurate and appropriate data and documentation as required with each student.

  • Turns in timesheets, and all other required paperwork and records in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Gives necessary program information related to services provided to the students and also communicates any other issues or concerns about the students to supervisor(s).

  • Keeps binders, materials, and toys easy to find and organized for other therapists with all items in place.

  • Cares for needs of the child, (toileting, eating, dressing, etc.)

  • Communicates with supervisor(s) with questions and concerns about any issues that affect the employees job performance.

  • Maintains professionalism and keeps appropriate boundaries with students and parents and adheres to BACB (Behavior Analyst Certification Board) conduct guidelines.

  • Responsible for answering graphing related questions when supervisor is not available.

  • Looks for holes in all the graphs. Look in the raw data binder or raw data folder on the server and fill in any missing data. Delete any weekends, or days the learner was absent.

  • Check for accuracy on behavior acquisition program graphs and cumulative graphs-on a weekly basis, physically count the number of mastered targets on the paper mastery list and make sure the graph matches. Make sure the baseline probe points match the baseline data.

  • Takes team meeting notes and manually imports into Google doc. Makes a copy for parent and scans into raw data folder of client file.

  • Add new targets to mastery lists. Check the program sheet to see how many targets are required per step. Check with your supervisor is you need ideas.

  • Scan weekly frequency sheets, multiple trial sheets, daily frequency sheets, parent com logs, therapist com logs, potty data sheets etc. every month as one (1) file per month.

  • When a program is mastered: Make sure all dates are filled on program sheet, graph data and include the year and student code is on every sheet. Put in order-program sheet and mastery lists, than scan the entire program as one (1) file. Save it on the server in clients raw data folder (e.g. save on server as CM-001 H4 Mastered Program). Instructional control programs stay in program binder, all other programs go in scanned data binder.

  • Checks card sort for targets that have met revision criteria. These target (cards) are kept in a file folder and therapist is responsible for introducing these graphs in a re-shape program. A re-shape mastery list is made in the operant excel file and intro and mastered dates are inputted, but the information is not graphed.

  • Checks for targets in each acquisition program that have met revision criteria and fills out team at team meeting once an observation is completed.

  • Follows both written and verbal instructions given by supervisor(s).

Other Responsibilities:

  • Ability and willingness to drive to clients homes, schools, and provide service in the community as requested.

  • Assists with personal care needs utilizing universal precautions.

  • Intervenes within guidelines for behavioral incidents.

  • Adheres to company policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.

  • Maintains positive and professional relationships with colleagues.

  • Participate in continuing education and in-service training to maintain and advance skills and techniques.

  • Ability to increase knowledge over course of employment, of identifying functions of behavior and implementing Applied Behavior Analysis strategies and techniques.

  • Have minimal absences, late calls and changes to work schedule.

  • Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Reports To: Clinical Supervisor, Behavior Analyst

Scheduled Hours: Monday through Friday; weekend and evenings, as requested.

Program Hours: 7:30 am - 5:00 pm

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education & Experience Equivalent To:

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelors degree in Human Services from an accredited college or university is highly preferred.

  • Exposure and training in behavioral supports.

  • Six (6) months to one (1) year experience working directly with children/adolescents in a structured setting.

  • Six (6) months to one (1) year experience working directly with children/ adolescents with autism in ABA program.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Familiar with the field of ABA, and knowledgeable of other community resources and agencies that serve children.

  • Working knowledge of developmental disabilities, familiarity with ADA guidelines and understanding of the importance of inclusion.

  • Significant knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

  • Experience implementing and/or designing ABA programs for individuals with ASD.

  • Sensitive to working with an ethnically, linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse population.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretion pertaining to the work environment and maintain all HIPAA requirements.

  • Ability to appropriately interpret and implement policies, procedures, and regulations of ESH; training provided.

  • Ability to consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.

  • A commitment to the values of the organization while demonstrating good judgment, flexibility, patience and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.

  • Knowledgeable and skilled in computer/Microsoft processing software and excel. Must be able to use an iPhone or work cell phone if applicable.

  • Ability to work in an exciting, fast-paced high energy environment while effectively multitasking.

  • Personable; able to work comfortably with individuals at all levels within the organization.

  • Commitment to ongoing training and development as it relates to clinical sklls.

Mental Requirements:

  • Requires alertness to respond to audio and visual cues from clients, other staff members, the environment and standard office machines and equipment.

  • Ability to calmly handle, and intervene when necessary, behavioral and health related incidents.

  • Logic and reasoning for forecasting future needs, goals, and events.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects, and schedules.

  • Ability to respond quickly to rush projects or emergencies.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time, stand for up to 6-8 hours a day.

  • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, twisting in order to observe, assess, and interact with clients.

  • Occasional sitting and maintaining close visual attention to write reports and work at the computer.

  • Ability to utilize computer, iPhone or landline, fax machine, and copy machine.

  • Frequent proofreading and checking documents for accuracy.

  • Ability to physically implement behavior management strategies including responding to physically aggressive behavior.

  • Frequent speaking and listening (50%) to clients, staff, and other professionals in meetings and on the phone.

  • Visual and auditory ability to work with clients, staff and others in the workplace continuously.

  • Frequent driving (to and from office and client homes). Occasional lifting, carrying, and loading/unloading toys and materials up to and including 25 lbs. to 50 lbs. used in home visits.

  • Frequent exposure to disability disorders in clients; occasional emergency situation; occasional exposure to trauma; constant client contact and decision making; constant concentration required when working with clients.

  • Frequent work inside client homes; occasional work in outdoor settings.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain criminal record clearance through the Department of Justice (DOJ). The HR Department must analyze DOJ/FBI live scan reports in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, as well as fitness for the position.

  • Access to reliable transportation required

  • Valid drivers license with an insurable driving record preferred

  • Must pass health screenings, obtain vaccinations and clear annual TB testing based on company policies. Freedom from any communicable disease or medical conditions that would interfere with the physical requirements of this position.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain clearance through the Office of Inspector General.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.

  • Must attend all ESH required training.
