Meritage Hospitality Group, one of the nation's largest Wendy's franchisees, is seeking a full time Regional Vice President of Operations to join our Wendy's Operations leadership team.

What You'll Do

As Regional Vice President of Operations, you will be responsible for setting the performance standards for your markets, and driving change in leadership, systems, and processes to improve restaurant efficiency. This position is the liaison between the regional markets, and the Restaurant Service Center, to continually set the bar higher for growth of the restaurant sales, community involvement, customer opinion, and the teammates who work in them.

This position oversees nearly 200 Wendy's restaurants in our 8 northern markets across 9 states (Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Missouri), as well as the maintenance function. Regional Vice President of Operations at Meritage directly supervise the Area Directors, who in turn directly supervise our District Managers. This position reports to the President/COO.

Responsibilities of the Regional Vice President of Operationss include:

  • Sets the vision for their markets with strategies and goals to achieve it in partnership with the President/COO.

  • Drive a "Run It Like You Own It" mindset, directing Area Directors to lead as strong business operators and develop that capability below them.

  • Overall responsibility for Profit and Loss in markets within span of control, ensuring profitability targets are achieved.

  • Defines business standards to which Area Directors, District Managers and General Managers will be held accountable.

  • Responsible for the overall development of Area Directors.

  • Lead Area Directors to be strong visionaries that set high but attainable goals and establish strategies and plans to achieve them.

  • Works with Area Directors to objectively evaluate performance of their direct reports and strategically develop them.

  • Responsible for succession management for their market.

  • Manage territory districting and assignment of leaders to restaurant groupings in partnership with the President/COO.

  • Responsible for assessing needs of their teams, and coordinating efforts with other departments in the organization to remove potential barriers for success.

  • Responsible for Capital Expense oversight and management.

  • Works with various departments at the Restaurant Service Center, serving as the project manager to create systems and people development tools that will improve restaurant performance.

  • Participates in key real estate decision-making to enhance and develop their markets, including scouting of opportunities for new builds and establishing construction priorities.

  • Coordinates maintenance and facilities priorities with the Property Manager and Maintenance Technicians to prioritize facility needs.

  • Sets IT ticket processing priorities for their markets, and works with the IT Help Desk Manager to ensure timely processing of issues.

  • Works with Marketing to set and achieve strategies and ensures budgets are met.

  • Works closely with the DMA's in their markets and networks with operations leaders from other Wendy's franchisees and corporate.

Other details about the position:

  • This position requires permanent residence in one of the major metro markets it oversees, including Grand Rapids, MI, Hartford, CT, or Memphis, TN. Residence in Atlanta, GA would also be considered. Relocation assistance is available.

  • 50-75% travel requirements

  • Reports to the President/COO

  • Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt

What We Expect From You

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

Experience

  • 10+ years of multi-unit leadership experience, with a proven track record of business results and people development

  • Experience with QSR, Wendy's strongly preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong independent thinking skills, with an ownership mentality

  • Effective project management skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present materials effectively

  • Microsoft Office proficiency in Word, Powerpoint, and Excel to present data

  • Able to understand P&L documentation, and set budgets

  • Long term planning for Operational needs, construction projects, sales projections, and people planning
