  • Lead Underwriting Service Team to include developing and implementing strategies consistent with corporate business goals, guidelines, and programs within the Risk Management Services Department.

  • Analyze, select and profitably price highly complex commercial risks and determine terms and conditions of coverage on new and renewal business.

  • Apply and conform to underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manuals, insurance laws/ regulations.

  • Utilize a consultative selling approach to generate new business consistent with underwriting strategy and in coordination with service team members to include accurately assessing the needs of the broker and the client and formulating solutions that effectively address those needs.

  • Analyze underwriting & marketing activities and corresponding results; prepare reports to management.

  • Mentor and provide technical training and guidance to coworkers.

  • Determine, coordinate and direct account management activities with various departments.

  • Negotiate and deliver proposals to producers and buyers.

  • Develop and maintain client relationships and coordinate service team efforts.

  • Identify opportunities for organizational improvement and recommend solutions.

  • Demonstrate commitment to Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and apply knowledge of compliance policies and procedures, standards and laws applicable to job responsibilities in the performance of work.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (at least 7 years of experience) casualty underwriting experience with an insurance carrier required.

  • 3 years underwriting management experience is desired however candidates with at least 5 years senior, professional underwriting experience will also be considered.

  • Advanced understanding and technical knowledge of underwriting mechanics and fundamentals.

  • Advanced knowledge of casualty coverage and loss sensitive deal structures (retrospective rating, large deductible, captive, and self insurance). Additional knowledge in financial analysis, account management and collateral management is desired.

  • Advanced knowledge of local and regional market conditions as well as industry trends. Advanced knowledge of underwriting territory and strong relationships with the local distribution network (local and regional agents, national and regional brokers, and select consultants).

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the successful marketing and prospecting of business opportunities, as well as, relationship building and agency management skills.

  • Able to create a presence that conveys interest, conviction, and energy in maintaining relationships with external business partners.

  • Strong ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, to uncover business needs.

  • Ability to foster creative solutions that resonate with external business partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with various levels of management and support personnel.

  • Advanced skills in marketing, analysis, decision making/problem solving, planning and organizing; sales and negotiation and mathematical proficiency.

  • Strong desire to work collaboratively and foster a "team oriented" environment (heavy interaction with Claims and Risk Control in particular).

  • Willingness to travel for business purposes. The Regional Underwriting Manager is expected to be visible with their agents and brokers in order to develop and maintain solid relationships and generate an adequate flow of qualified business.

  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU); Associate in Risk Management designation or other professional designations are desired.

Act as vendor interface for support of applications and new technologies. The Regional Planning Manager will act as the technical planning manager for all engineering Enterprise & Regional projects. Critical responsibilities also include project requirements, assumptions, resource management, prioritization, budget oversight and an understanding of dependencies between projects. The Regional Planning Manager will take the lead role in bringing corporate and regional resources together to develop unique and custom solutions to ensure projects stay on track at the enterprise level. The Regional Planning Manager is also responsible for providing the Leadership team with recommendations & solutions for resource contention/loading issues as well as project conflicts. This role will be a key member of the Regional Engineering team who will interface with all levels within the engineering organization. Role Specific Responsibilities * Acts as team lead and provides direction to Regional Project Managers on enterprise level projects * Provides process and project leadership during request for proposal, request for quote & request for information * Assists Development and manages the publication of Regional portfolio to support all regional projects * Leads analysis efforts for all incoming projects to assess operational impact and resource needs * Controls inflow of projects and work requests coming into the region * Takes a lead role in developing techniques and procedures for project planning * Works closely with Regional Leadership team to develop short and long-range portfolio plans * Develops and delivers project status presentations to the Regional and Senior Leadership Team Strategy, Analysis & Planning * Aligns regional strategies, initiatives and budgets to meet project objectives * Analyzes through MS Project, project risks and take timely action * Influences priorities and decisions across the organization * Monitors and reports on the health and viability of the Regional portfolio * Works with Senior Leadership to develop and communicate the strategic vision to key stakeholders Process Improvement * Conducts post program and project completion reviews to determine areas of strengths and opportunities * Develops processes enabling efficient and effective workflow related to project inflow and communications * Works with the leadership team to ensure proper workload modeling is being developed for all projects * Works with the leadership team to assess managers ability to predict and balance workload across team members * Leads and implements a management approach to drive Continuous Improvement Business Partnership * Conducts routine meetings with Primes and Leaders to review / discuss overall regional performance * Works with peer managers to develop a consistent workload assessment model for all incoming projects * Works with peer managers to understand responsibilities to ensure all teams are informed of new project/initiative * B.S. in Engineering or equivalent experience * PMP certification required or equivalent * 8-10 years professional experience in cellular or wireless telecommunication * Solid knowledge of wireless technologies and IP required * 5+ years as a Project Manager with emphasis on Technical Project Management * Proficient with Microsoft Project and Sharepoint * Strong understanding of team dynamics * Demonstrated experienced in the creation of external release quality documentation; ability to develop such documents concurrent with other job responsibilities * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of and applies principles, practices and procedures of wireless communications industry * Experience with directing cross-functional teams and influencing without direct authority #LI-LD1 Job : Engineering Location(s) : Illinois-SCHAUMBURG_IL Tennessee-KNOXVILLE_TN U.S. Cellular® is an EEO employer and gives consideration to qualified applicants without regard to race/color/age/religion/sex/sexual orientation/gender identity/national origin/disability/veteran status, pregnancy or genetic information.
