The Area Manager-North Carolina is a full-time position that will be responsible for guiding, leading, and coordinating between customers, drivers, and warehouse employees for multiple business operations in North Carolina & Maryland. The successful individual must have the ability to use his/her own judgment in maintaining a safe, profitable operation while providing an atmosphere that encourages his/her employees to remain motivated and engaged while taking care of our customers. This individual must be willing to have a flexible work schedule.
This position will require a mixture of days, nights, and weekends as needed. This is a 100% remote position based in Charlotte, NC. This position will require travel.
Essential Functions: Complies with all procedures outlined in CalArk’s Policy Manuals, Department Standard Operating Procedures, FMCSA Regulations, DOT, and OSHA requirements. Oversees driving/warehouse operations of all daytime and nighttime shifts.
Hiring and training of a Dock Supervisor when needed. Conducts all employee performance evaluations. Conducts phone or in-person interviews and evaluates potential new team members.
Exercises independent discretion and judgment. Instructs and coaches employees on all functions of their job responsibilities. Provides guidance, support, and direction to all employees.
Maintains all equipment, including the scheduling of all preventative maintenance and quality control. Ability to train/retrain employees. Communicates in email and written form.
Maintains a strong working relationship with our customers. Maintains and meets our Company’s KPI (Key Performance Indicators) thresholds. Strong basic management skills in human relations as well as in communication.
Travel will be required throughout the year depending on the needs of the business. This position is designated as “safety-sensitive” under Arkansas Act 593 of 2017, an amendment to the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment of 2016, meaning that a person performing this position under the influence of marijuana may constitute a threat to health or safety. Ability to read materials and identify relevant details, judge accuracy, and appropriateness.

Possesses excellent problem-solving skills; ability to easily analyze, observe, and prioritize. Ability to seamlessly switch between multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to maneuver pallets/packages over 50 pounds with proper equipment. Works in accordance with Federal, State, and Local requirements. Ability to constantly work alertly and safely.
Qualifications: 5 years of business experience in the transportation industry. 2 years of supervisory experience in managing drivers. 2 years of supervisory experience in warehousing. Experience in logistics, warehousing, and route operations. Complete understanding of DOT/HOS Regulations.
Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree preferred but not required. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Must be able to pass a background check.
