As a member of the Regional Management Team contributes to the implementation of BU strategy and takes a lead in defining the R&D agenda for the region. Manages the regional solutions and development labs; evaluates the potential and practicality of development projects and relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish two key deliverables by:
Localization and fine tuning existing products/processes/services, incremental development, value engineering and color development as well as support to customers (via sales) and production.
Development of new products within the agreed timeframe and with the agreed performance characteristics and costing analysis to ensure these can be commercialized to deliver against the profit targets.

Translated AN's sustainability program into value based solutions for our customers and the Wood Finishes industry.
Drives knowledge management by keeping up with internal and external developments and ensuring embedding of knowledge in the organization
Technical support & product portfolio management
Excellent technical support to Wood Finishes customers. Actively manages the relation with customers on technical subjects. Improvement of AN's technical reputation.
Cost productivity improvements along the value chain.
Actively works on improving effectiveness and efficiency in the R&D function.
Prioritizes activities in accordance with business needs and optimizes efficiency
Drives best practices for products, processes and ways of working. Supports platform
Master or PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
Proven expertise in Wood Finishes coatings, resin chemistry and formulation science
Deep understanding of the Wood Finishes market, customers and value chain
Excellent people management skills. Applies situational leadership, able to steer behaviour and exhibits cultural awareness
Understands how the R&D teams contribute and drive commercial success.
Excellent cross functional cooperation. Can influence co-workers, peers and management.
Proven track record in coatings industry of minimum of ten years in research & development
Broad network in coatings industry in the region is essential for the success of this role
Sits on the regional management team (dotted reporting line to Regional Commercial Director)
Must work in close coordination with procurement, supply chain and marketing functions
Networks with key industry stake holders related to Wood industry such as Furniture, Flooring; Building Materials, etc. and with universities to keep abreast of latest technology research and trends
