Regional Sales Manager - West Region (Distribution Division)

Summary
This role is responsible for managing and directing sales growth in the region, developing sales people in quality and quantity. Responsible for the day-to-day management of the region and people; including, pricing, local inventories, client relationships, credit management, internal reporting and training. Responsibilities include being the regional focal point for market and competitive activity, coaching and managing sellers on our ongoing internal needs and reporting requirements, training and helping Account Managers, Sales Representatives and Technical Development Engineers grow in their overall business development and career aspirations. The RSM can live in the western region, preferably California, and will work from a home office.
Critical Activities
Consistently achieves the budgeted sales volume and profit margin by developing regional strategies to gain market share
Collaborates with Sourcing in developing strategic growth targets across M. Holland's portfolio of Engineered and Commodity thermoplastics
Grows volumes in alignment with the objectives of strategic suppliers; leading a commercial team focused on value-based sales
Partners with M. Holland Business Development team to drive growth in key market segments
Drives new account development by leveraging Sales Representative and Account Manager resources to penetrate all viable leads within the region
Raises profitability through close collaboration with Supply Chain to ensure proper inventory mix is achieved on behalf of our Clients
Supports commercial team with the development and implementation of contracts
Monitors and supports Credit team activities to ensure receivable levels are in line with company expectations
Manages Account Manager(s), Sales Representative(s) and Technical Development Engineer(s) in their day-to-day activities
Supports corporate initiatives related to technology, training, and regional growth strategies
Develop and nurture a robust recruitment pipeline within the region
Maintains effective training and personal development initiatives for staff related to value-based selling skills, relationship management, technology and market / product knowledge
Participates in training and personal development programs to enhance leadership competencies
Consistently travels with commercial team to region's key accounts; deepening relationships with Clients and Supplier representatives
Develop deep and collaborative relationship with corporate teams
Schedules and coordinates quarterly business meetings with team, suppliers and internal stakeholders
Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
7 years related experience
1-3 years management experience preferred
High level of initiative and work ethic
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to assist in the growth and maintenance of business relationships at all levels of the customer and MHC organization
Excellent listening skills
Capability to create internal teamwork to focus on sales objectives
Ability to be comfortable communicating to all levels of the MHC organization
Geographically located, or willing to relocate, in the available region
