Mission and goal statement

As Regional Sales Manager for this territory, you prospect, promote and sell products and services of Metrologic Group. You need to find new direct customers, resellers and integrators within a defined geographic area in order to grow revenues.

You must also be able and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as is necessary and desirable to meet our business needs. This position has a lot of growth potential.


We're looking for a high-energy sales person with experience in metrology software or solution sales, and a desire to aggressively generate new business. The selected candidate has the ability to turn customer needs into successful and valued solutions and is eager to gain a deep understanding of the products as well as the industry. Due to the direct contact with our customers, this position requires strong written and verbal communication.

Education, experience and skills required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Design, Manufacturing, CAD/CAM engineering or an Associate Degree with similar focus and some significant work experience (3+ years)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of sales experience

PBLWorks creates, collects, and shares high-quality PBL tools and resources with K-12 teachers and leaders. </p><p>At PBLWorks, we believe that all students—no matter where they live or what their background—should have access to quality PBL instruction to deepen their learning and achieve success in college, career, and life and we seek to build a multi-talented staff who deeply understand and embrace the diversity of the students of today, and have awareness of the challenges in the world those students will inherit. </p><p>At the end of 2016, PBLWorks launched an ambitious new strategic plan that provides a clear roadmap for ensuring equitable, consistent, and positive student outcomes while also creating the evidence base for further adoption of PBL. In 2019, PBLWorks completed plans for regional implementation of our services, with Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island serving as one of our initial target regions. </p><p><strong>Position Summary </strong></p><p>The Regional Director of Educational Partnerships – Boston is a new position that is part of a larger regional strategic plan focused on growth and depth of our Professional Development (PD) services in targeted regions. The Regional Director of Educational Partnerships - Los Angeles is responsible for building a financially sustainable business for PBLWorks in the Boston region. This includes nurturing and building new relationships with K-12 school leaders, district leaders, community leaders, and other significant local partners. Our goal -- by 2022 -- is to work with 3000 teachers and 700 leaders who will ultimately influence up to 100,000 students. The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, an ability to build cross-sector partnerships and the courage and leadership skills to address educational inequities. </p><p>The position reports to the Chief Program Officer, and is a full-time position with benefits. The candidate will be a remote employee located in the New England region (ideally Boston, MA). Travel will be extensive, sometimes more than 50%.</p><p><strong>The Regional Director of Educational Partnerships will:</strong></p><p><strong>Partnership Development</strong></p><ul> <li>Cultivate a robust, local pipeline of leaders at all K-12 levels to create sustainable networks for teachers and leaders to learn with and from one another while increasing the number of students experiencing High Quality Project Based Learning (HQPBL), especially those students furthest from opportunity. Specific goals will include negotiation and finalizing service contracts for:<ul> <li>At least two PBL School Leader Networks (SLNs) annually to include diverse leadership teams from 8-10 local schools in each cohort.</li> <li>One to two new district partnerships annually.</li> <li>One or more partners who will host a PBL Institute event.</li> <li>10 or more local schools for teacher-facing PD services. </li> </ul> </li> <li>Work closely with the Director of Partnership Development to strategically develop new relationships, while successfully assessing potential partners’ implementation capabilities.</li> <li>Develop and maintain excellent collaborative relationships with K-12 leaders in the region.</li> <li>Demonstrate understanding of local K-12 educational systems and policies, as well as local community and funding networks that support K-12</li> <li>Work effectively with the program and operations teams to seamlessly bring in new partners and insure that they have a successful experience, and with marketing team to develop leads pipeline.</li> </ul><p><strong>Partner Support</strong></p><ul> <li>Provide ongoing oversight and support of the leader networks and school and district partners, in collaboration with the local Director of District and School Leadership. </li> <li>Support Institute partners in the execution of an event that is in synch with the PBLWorks strategy, brand, and high-quality service goals.</li> <li>Thought Leadership</li> <li>Represent PBLWorks and advocate for our work by presenting at conferences (regional, state, and national) and using social media</li> <li>Organize local events to showcase PBLWorks. </li> <li>Explore partnership opportunities with organizations interested in working with PBLWorks, and provide an assessment and recommendations to the PBLWorks management team.</li> </ul><p><strong>Account Management </strong></p><ul> <li>Monitor and report on sales metrics (e.g. quarterly sales results and annual forecasts).</li> <li>Develop and maintain leads and deeply understand Set and track sales account targets.</li> <li>Be able to read the market, recognize trends, and adjust prospecting to match opportunities.</li> <li>Other accountabilities, as assigned.</li> <li>Contributions to PBLWorks’ mission and culture </li> <li>Work with other PBLWorks team members to further our mission, vision, values, and strategic plan.</li> <li>As a collaborative team player, support PBLWorks colleagues, and understand the full process of PBLWorks. </li> <li>Share our deep passion for equitable access for all students to high quality education, and help to move our equity agenda forward.</li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>The successful candidate will bring this experience to the role:</strong></p><ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred </li> <li>Five or more years of consistent sales success and/or service delivery experience in K-12 districts and schools. </li> <li>Extensive knowledge and experience working within the Massachusetts K-12 system, including an understanding of the local educational policies, geography and culture.</li> <li>Skilled negotiator with a win/win approach.
