Safety Oversight:

  • Conduct safety inspections to identify hazards, assess compliance with safety protocols, and ensure safe working conditions across the region.
  • Oversee hazardous materials programs to ensure proper communication about potential risks.
  • Lead incident investigations to determine causes and prevent recurrence of accidents.
  • Work to reduce safety violations and penalties.

Training and Education:

  • Train contractors and construction personnel on safety requirements, protocols, and best practices.
  • Ensure annual OSHA 30-hour training for relevant personnel.
  • Assist in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures according to industry standards and legal requirements.

Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Collaborate closely with project teams, contractors, project executives (PXs), and VP of operations to cultivate a strong safety culture.
  • Assist in creating safety protocols for complex projects.
  • Provide leadership to other safety managers and drive organizational safety improvements.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Typically possess 5-10 years of experience in construction safety and health.
  • Experience in federal projects, including high-rise construction, multi-family, and urban construction.
  • Possess relevant certifications such as OSHA 500 and CHST.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the safety director and collaborate closely with division operations VP and general superintendent.
  • Act as the primary resource and, when needed, enforce safety-related matters for project teams.
  • Maintain a weekly document tracking log of conducted projects.
  • Document all safety inspections with written reports shared with the safety director, PX/VP, and project team.
  • Conduct pre-mobilization safety meetings and safety pre-construction meetings with top-tier subcontractors.
  • Lead monthly safety meetings with division managers, PXs, and VPs.
  • Perform monthly safety recordkeeping audits.
  • Advise project teams on upcoming safety issues and assist in planning mitigation strategies.
  • Request Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) when necessary for high-risk operations and ensure their completion before commencing work.
  • Conduct onsite safety lunch and learn sessions for project teams as required.
  • Conduct OSHA 30-hour training during designated training cycles.
