Regional Safety Coordinator

Summary:

Harcros Chemicals Inc. is an employee-owned company with a long history in specialty chemical manufacturing and distribution. We currently have 2 manufacturing plants and 27 distribution facilities in 20 states. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Regional Safety Coordinator who will be based at our Memphis, TN facility. This position will be part of the corporate Risk Management Team reporting to the Director of Safety but will also coordinate with Engineering and Environment and the local site managers to assist with daily priorities and projects. This position requires travel to surrounding Harcros distribution facilities.

Primary Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Promotes general safety and compliance programs, policies, training, and procedures to support overall compliance and incident prevention.

  • Supports regional Harcros distribution locations for EHS&S compliance. This may include developing and implementing construction and other improvement projects at these locations.

  • Effectively communicate hazards and risks to prevent incidents.

  • Collaborate across the region with regulatory training initiatives.

  • Conduct incident investigations, safety inspections, sampling, customer reviews and audits.

  • Work closely with local site managers to help organize, administer, and enhance Harcros EHS&S programs and training curriculum.

  • Assist in leading local EHS&S initiative to ensure regulatory success.

  • Help promote an effective compliance culture within the region.

  • Administer Harcros policies and regulatory practices associated with the Alliance for Chemical Distribution at the Memphis facilities. This may include but is not limited to writing procedures, managing corrective actions, management of change, providing input into management reviews, etc.

  • Work closely with internal Harcros subject matter experts on each of the programs to gain familiarity with the specific compliance requirements for each agency.

  • Support operations by developing and managing facility projects and/or contractors as they relate to maintenance, environmental improvement, waste minimization, cost savings, recycling, process improvements, internal and external audits, and inspections.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in engineering, safety management, or science related degree.

  • 1-5 years related experience preferred.

  • And/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Capable of interpreting complex documents such as chemical compounds and formulations. Proficient in calculating figures and solving practical problems involving proportions, percentages, and measurements.

Physical Capabilities & Requirements:

  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Sit and/or stand for long periods of time.

  • Will be required to wear Personnel Protective Equipment.

  • Will be required to pass a physical exam based on the PPE requirements.
