PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Regional Productivity Engineer plays a crucial role in our success and supports the execution of productivity-focused projects for the Roofing division. This position champions the use of data-driven, structured problem-solving methods to drive productivity and quality improvements, meeting financial goals and customers' requirements. The Regional Productivity Engineer is a key advocate of the Focused Improvement (FI) cultures within the region, coordinating the efforts of various levels of the organization, from the site's primary employees to the site's leadership team and division resources, by facilitating projects critical to the plant's goals and objectives. This role works closely with each plant's leadership team and leads complex problem-solving activities focused on reducing losses across our manufacturing network. Additionally, this role leads capital projects that drive site productivity improvements, making a significant impact on our overall performance.

Reports to: Sr. Productivity Leader

Span of Control: This position has no direct reports; however, it significantly influences decision-making at the Roofing Sites. The successful candidate will directly support our Western US Roofing plants with the ability to influence the Roofing division.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Living the Safety stand and adhering to safety responsibilities

  • Safety is our number one priority at our company. As a Regional Productivity Engineer, you will play a vital role in Ensuring a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work environment. We are committed to maintaining high safety standards and building a culture where safety is ingrained in everything we do.

  • Maintains plant housekeeping expectations to ensure a safe plant environment.

  • Reports and investigates injuries, first aid, and near misses.

  • Leads by example through hazard recognition and elimination.

Site Productivity Project Initiatives

  • Supports site analysis and comprehension of their losses to ensure actions are set to continually reduce them.

  • Complete capital projects tied to improving divisions' productivity initiatives.

  • Support the development and improvement of data information management systems.

  • Champion the identification and coordination of focused improvement projects inside each site and help the site execute those projects to help reduce losses inside the facilities.

  • Work across the division and outside of individual regions to support complex projects causing losses in multiple plants.

  • Participate in plant daily management meetings (DMS) and GEMBA walks and drive improvement actions.

  • Challenge the status quo and act as a change agent for business transformation as we enter a new age of digital manufacturing.

  • Is an advocate of success for our Division Capital and Delivery, Science and Technology, and Advanced Manufacturing initiatives.

  • Facilitate Failure Mode Effect Analysis as needed for new processes, equipment, raw materials, and areas of risk.

  • Be a member of the division's remote diagnosis team, which utilizes newly deployed process monitoring technology.

World Class Quality Initiatives

  • Support our network of manufacturing plants to be the world-class leader in quality in the roofing industry.

  • Support functional quality management system at the site level.

  • Support the sites on root cause analysis when complaints are received from customers as needed.

  • Actively participate in the quality network and be a conduit for best practice sharing in the plants for product quality and process control.

  • Participate in plant leadership meetings and discussions to ensure quality is being addressed and improvement plans are being monitored.

Leading and developing talent

  • Engages team members to collaboratively own the business's success by contributing to continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, productivity, etc.

  • Recognizes and rewards positive behaviors and contributions to critical plant performance metrics.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or in a technically related field

  • Five or more years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or related field

  • Ability to travel 60% of the time

  • Strong background in process improvement

  • Knowledge and experience with Root Cause Analysis, Failure Modes, and Effects and Analysis (FMEA)

  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean Certification, and or Black Belt preferred

  • Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) understanding and application preferred

  • Proficient using Minitab and or other statistical analysis tools

  • Be able to prioritize and adapt to a rapidly changing environment while balancing multiple responsibilities

  • Ability to influence to gain team alignment and enhance communication

  • Experience leading change management throughout manufacturing facilities

  • Experience translating quality technical issues into understandable operational requirements for plant employees

The base salary range for this position is $102-133k, with the potential for up to an additional 25% if the applicant hired has additional related qualifications.
