The Opportunity:

The Regional Health Practice Leader ("Practice Leader") reports directly to the West Region Leader and includes both leadership and individual contributor responsibilities.

The Practice Leader provides leadership and direction for the delivery of trusted health and welfare consulting to clients in the Public Sector, Multiemployer and Corporate markets by Health Consultants throughout the Region. The Practice Leader facilitates and leads the growth of the Region's health practice by collaborating with Regional leadership and practitioners to develop and deliver strategic and tactical plans to sell and provide the Region's full array of health and benefit consulting services. Additionally, the Practice Leader is responsible for strengthening the Practice through capacity-building, recommending new tools, methodologies, processes and enhancing skills of practice staff.

The Practice Leader will also work closely with our National Health Practice Leader and will need to implement any new duties and responsibilities as set forth by the National Health Practice Leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct internal and external promotion and marketing efforts to expand Segal's book of business, such as public speaking, strengthening internal relationships with Segal colleagues, and educating colleagues and clients on Practice issues and services.

  • Directly support and ensure that the Practice provides technical and other Practice expertise to assist with the sales efforts of CRMs, New Business Developers and Consultants. This includes, participating in pursuit strategy, proposal development, finalist presentations, pricing, and client planning.

  • Ensure that the Practice meets Regional (and, where applicable, Practice or client-specific) realization rate objectives for recurring and non-recurring projects, to continuously improve profitability.

  • Collaborate with Client Relationship Managers, New Business Developers and Consultants to identify and initiate projects.

  • Partner with Regional Leadership to develop Business Plans that fully reflect the array of services, products and capabilities and key Public Sector, Multiemployer and Corporate markets.

  • Build and maintain personal and Practice Staff expertise in assigned topic areas; serve as internal resource, expert, and teacher on select health and benefit topics, select curricula for Staff development.

  • Participate in National Practice initiatives collaborating with National Health Practice Leader, other Regional Health Leaders, Market Leaders, Committees, and other Company Leadership.

  • Project design, management, and assignment decisions in collaboration with Client Relationship Managers, Regional Leaders, and other individuals.

  • Undergraduate degree; master's degree a plus.

  • Minimum of 12 years within a Health benefit consulting, other professional services and/or insurance company environment to be capable of stepping into the leadership and consulting aspects of the role as defined.

  • Deep and broad knowledge of employee benefits for mid-size and large plan sponsors in Corporate, Public Sector or Multiemployer markets.

  • Proven track record of success in benefit consulting, business development, professional Staff development and client market expansion activities having a health and welfare focus; experience in managing a Business Unit and/or sizable client servicing team including financial/profitability and quality responsibilities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other applications as relevant to the incumbent's areas of specialty.

  • Leadership, communication (oral/written), work/time management, planning and organizing, problem analysis, assessment and decision making, delegation of authority and responsibility, achievement orientation, integrity.

The current salary range for this position is $180,000 to $250,000 plus opportunity for a discretionary performance bonus based on company profitability and employee performance.
