Regional Pharmacy Manager

The Regional Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the overall operations of the pharmacy departments within a region. This position requires extensive contact with the administrator, medical staff, nursing service, hospital staff, and nonhospital personnel (vendors, auditors).
Essential Functions:

• Plans, oversees, and directs day to day operations of Pharmacy services over an assigned region.

\t

• Assures the ongoing development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.

\t

• Responds through the appropriate channels and processes when policies are not adhered.

\t

• Prepares and submits reports as necessary to any requiring department in accurate and timely manner on an as needed basis.

\t

• Interviews and evaluates the qualifications and competence of staff to be hired and ensure that onboarding and orientation initiatives meet the employee's needs as well as pharmacy requirements.

\t

• Maintains strict control over distribution and usage of controlled substances.

\t

• Oversees the performance of direct and indirect reports to include performance reviews and counseling on employee issues to include attendance, appearance, conduct, following protocols, policies and procedures, etc.

\t

• Responsible for the procurement, inventory control process, distribution, and storage of all medications. Ensures that expiring drugs are removed from general distribution daily. Provides drug information and ensures that adequate drug references are available to the pharmacy departments within the assigned region.

• Ensures pharmacy staff is always available to answer questions as needed. Ensures quality pharmaceutical services are provided to patients and works collaboratively with medical staff, nursing, and other hospital departments on a regular basis.

• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the profession by membership and participation in programs, attendance at meetings, seminars, lectures, etc., and reading the current literature.

\t

• May serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge for a facility or facilities within the assigned region and assume associated responsibilities in compliance with industry standard and Company's policies and procedures for role.

\t

• Performs other duties as assigned.
