Title: Regional Operations Manager- Flat Rolled Group
The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring facilities are meeting the safety and continuous improvement standards set forth by Metals USA, Reliance, Inc. , OSHA, and local government. The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for collaborating with Plant Managers and Safety Personnel to improve the efficiency of our operations and improve the safety culture, assist in capital projects and ensure the plant, property and equipment are maintained to best-in-class standards.
Locations served: Germantown, Grand Rapids, Horicon, Jeffersonville, Liberty, Lynch- Anaheim, Lynch- Union, Northbrook, Randleman, Springfield, Wichita, Wooster.
Future State -- there will be two regional operation managers responsible for ½ of the locations
Travel: As required to assigned locations. Regular presence in all related locations will be crucial for success
Daily job duties:
Work with Safety Coordinators to ensure appropriate topics and effective management of the annual safety training requirements through the MTS system.
Analyze near miss and accident investigations for accurate root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are implemented across applicable operations.
Create and implement new safety systems ensuring timely completion of compliance requirements.
Create, train, and support the implementation of continuous improvement systems and procedures to increase efficiencies.
Plan and lead engaging and informative monthly safety calls.
Collaborate with Safety Coordinators and Plant Managers weekly to assist with continuous improvement projects.
Audit 5S areas when visiting assigned locations
Assist with training and auditing of standard work.
Assist with Operational Availability measurements through training, support and regular review to ensure continual improvement.
Evaluate Smart safety observation submissions and KPI submissions for trends.
Assist with preparing for Tier 1 and 2 Reliance Steel and Aluminum assessments.
Travel to each facility every 6? months to review projects completed over the past months and discuss plans for future improvements.
Coach Safety Coordinators in their accident investigations, near miss analysis, and TABRAs.
Identify future talent in operations and assist Plant Managers with talent development.
Identifying, sharing, and implementing best practices across the plants.
Research and analyze opportunities for enhanced automation.
Review R&M projects, spare parts, preventative maintenance schedules and assist where needed.
Identify opportunities to leverage our overall spend on high cost consumables that are common to all locations.
Engage with Plant Managers and begin to consolidate capital project information for Capital Expenditure deadlines.
All other assigned tasks.
Leadership development:
Lead a weekly book club three times per year on a safety or continuous improvement topic.
Attend two conferences per year with educational sessions on Safety or continuous improvement topics.
Pursue one learning opportunity each quarter on a Safety or Continuous improvement subject.
