Position Title: Regional MASH Coordinator

Reports To: Executive Director of Special Services

Classification: Exempt- Professional Certificated (130 days per year)

Time in Position: .722 FTE (Potential to grow based on program needs)

Salary Range 23-24: $52,023.89 (step 1/year 1) - $58,553.35 (step 5/year5)

Salary Range 24-25: Starting September 1, 2024, $53,948.78 (step 1/year 1) - $60,719.83 (step 5/year5)

SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for providing leadership and support to ESD staff, district level staff, individuals with behavioral challenges, and their families by coordinating behavioral and mental health services within the region. The coordinator will oversee and maintain a regional caseload and meet regularly with all members of a student's team to ensure the delivery of services and coordination of supports. The coordinator will be the main contact within the region to access and maintain these behavioral services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to multi-disciplinary team members.

  • Complete a comprehensive (community/family/school) intake on the onset of MASH services for each student.

  • Develop, present, and conduct effect workshops, in-service trainings, and informational meetings for multi-disciplinary teams to address the needs of districts and team personnel.

  • Work collaboratively to support children's social/emotional development and modify inappropriate behaviors.

  • Facilitate periodic MASH team coordination meetings to provide training and information related to student-centered programming.

  • Maintain as a liaison and active participation with District staff, parents, students, professional associations, and community-based organizations.

  • Assist LEAs to coordinate agency contracts.

  • Work independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve objectives.

  • Set priorities, meet deadlines and schedules, deal with frequent interruptions, and work as part of a team.

  • Schedule activities, meetings, or events for the development and implementation of services for students.

  • Carry out the mandates of the Washington State Legislature, State Board of Education, and the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), as they relate to special education services, and assist in the clarification and dissemination of OSPI information.

  • Help complete all necessary IEP paperwork on individual students, including progress reports for the respective services and SafetyNet applications.

  • Provide direction and support in developing MASH implementation plans, including a fade plan, data collection, and progress monitoring.

  • Help gather and analyze data by observing and/or screening children and their behavior and emotional needs.

  • Assist in assessing each child's developmental level of social-emotional functioning, design and implement individual treatment plans, prepare progress reports and maintain accurate records of contact for each child.

  • Maintain confidentiality.

  • Follow all applicable Board policies and procedures.

Supervisory:

Provide support of newly hired behavioral staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in special education or another related field.

  • Washington State ESA, Teacher or Administrative certificate.

  • Minimum of 3 years of special education or mental health experience.

  • Ability to facilitate and lead teams.

  • Experience with PBIS and trauma informed services.

  • WSP/ FBI background clearance required.

  • Valid Driver's License and Car Insurance.

  • Ability to maintain knowledge of best practices and laws governing behavioral supports for students with disabilities.

  • Knowledge of system-based approaches to implementing educational initiatives, school discipline practices, targeted and individual behavior supports, data collection and analysis, basic principles of behavioral change.

  • Experience evaluating and writing IEP for students with behavior difficulties including students with autism and other disabilities.

  • Ability to work well with school and district level leadership teams to provide school improvement decision-making and support.

  • Ability to provide effective professional development for adult learners to understand, use and share data related to practices and progress monitoring.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed primarily in an office environment; however, travel is required to local school districts and program sites, and for workshops, committee representation and conferences at local, regional, and state level. Sitting for extended periods of time may be required. Lifts and carries a maximum of 35 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
