The Regional Marketing Director (RMD) works closely with the Business Unit Manager, Area Leaders, Client Service Managers (CSMs), and Marketing Staff to help develop and direct overall sales and marketing priorities region wide. At the core of the RMD responsibility is the understanding of the marketing support needs of the region and providing appropriate resources to lead efficient and focused efforts around key clients. This includes goal setting with CSMs; helping to determine technical and non-technical resource needs; capturing information from debriefs and understanding client issues; and, facilitating strategic long- and short-term action planning. In addition to this, the RMD directs and participates in key pursuits, including prioritizing efforts, developing persuasive messages, writing and reviewing key sections of proposals, and facilitating interview preparation and delivery.

Job Expectations:

The RMD is responsible for the overall execution of the Marketing Framework, which defines the marketing processes and expectations, and the goal setting and progression of Marketers within the region.

  • Strategic Planning - assists with annual strategic planning process to identify key target clients and emerging opportunities to maintain existing business and to secure new business.

  • Client Development - works with BUM, Area Marketing Managers and CSMs and teams to monitor creation, execution and updating of overall client development action plans. Participates in and leads client account analysis efforts, capture planning and theme/thesis development, and client debriefs.

  • Proposal / Presentation Development - process includes managing and often assisting directly with strategy development, writing, formatting, editing/review to ensure persuasive messages, and production. Responsible for overall quality, budget and schedule performance of proposal efforts for the region.

  • Go/No-Go - coordinate or assist with Go/No-Go analyses for the region.

  • Budgets - assists BUM, AMMS and CSMs in developing area and pursuit marketing budgets. Assists in monitoring marketing budgets for the region to maintain labor and expenses within the budgets.

  • Opportunity Tracking - maintains opportunity information in company systems, works with staff to populate sales funnels aligned with sales goals.

  • Maintenance of Marketing Information - oversees updates of all regularly used information including resumes, mailing lists, and project descriptions. Uses systems and tools to share debrief information and best products.

  • Performance Reporting - assesses key metrics at office level, reporting trends and results against goals, as well as supporting business planning efforts.

  • Marketing Staff Development - provides resource balancing, goal setting, supervision and training for area marketing managers, and coordinators. Counsel and mentor staff on a regular basis to provide advice and encouragement for effective execution of their work.

  • Regional Marketing Meetings - If requested by BUM, facilitates regular regional marketing meetings and provides monthly statistics for proposals, SOQ's, interviews, etc.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • A professional degree with 10+ years of experience as Business Development/Marketing Manager.

  • Experience within the Environmental Consulting Industry.

  • Must have the willingness and ability to travel.

  • A successful proposal / interview manager - experience overseeing, coordinating, as well as experience performing all aspects of production including strategy and messaging, managing resources and process, graphics, production, and technical teams.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with emphasis on superior persuasive writing / editing, presentation and interviewing ability.

  • A proven team leader with the ability to maximize talents of group members.

  • Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, InDesign and Excel.
