A Day in the Life

As aRegional Business Manager, you will manage a Field Sales Team and a ClinicalSupport Team. You will be expected to develop talent within this team andimplement field sales strategies and tactics to achieve defined sales goals asoutlined in the region sales budget and quota. You will be responsiblefor sales, talent management, margin, product mix, marketing feedback, andcustomer satisfaction relative to field sales activities.

As aRegional Business Manager, you will also be responsible for maintaining a highperforming sales and clinical team.


  • Recruit,hire, train, develop, and manage all sales and clinical representativesassigned to the region.

  • Activelycoach direct reports to meet annual objectives through the development ofcompetent business skills, product knowledge, and market development

  • Leadregional opportunity development and opportunity management strategies andactivities that translate into accurate monthly, quarterly, and annualprojections.

  • The RegionalBusiness Manager will maintain sole ownership of providing an accurateforecast to Zone Vice President each reporting period

  • Workcollaboratively with aligned Clinical Director to develop clinicalbusiness strategy related to pre-sale and post-sale activities,competitive targets, mobilization strategies, and regional clinicalsupport.

  • Work inconjunction with Clinical Director to develop clinical talent and optimize

Clinical Product Specialist productivity

  • Develop andimplement business plans that effectively utilizes the local account teamresources available in the region

  • Collaborateacross key internal stakeholder groups (finance, sales operations,marketing, OEM, etc.) as well as peers to identify and address trends andto support business goals and strategy

  • Identify,qualify, prepare, and execute effective sales strategies that maintain theexisting base of business and support the close of competitive and revenuegrowth opportunities

  • Responsiblefor meeting forecasting, revenue, margin, and profitability objectives, aswell as delivering expected profit results by balancing revenue generationand expense management for region

  • Develop andimplement aggressive talent development initiatives that optimize teamproductivity, drive bench development, and support organizational talentcross-pollination

  • Achievecustomer satisfaction for products and services. Ensure allregulatory and product specific guidelines are met

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor'sdegree (BA or BS) from a four-year college or university

  • 5+ years ofmedical sales and business management experience

  • 10+ years ofoverall work experience

  • 5+ years inteam selling environment

  • Extensiveprevious capital equipment and disposable products field experience

Niceto Have

  • Master'sDegree (MA, MBA, MS) is highly desirable

  • Previoussales management experience strongly preferred

  • Strong problem-solvingskills

  • Executivesales and negotiating skills

  • Ability tocoach and teach others

RSMs will achieve these critical objectives via interactive coaching of their representatives on a day-to-day basis to build their sales, leadership, and business analytic impact skills Responsibilities Essential Responsibilities: * Ensures all Clinical Sales Specialists meet/exceed product and brand strategy training targets -- including product attribute/claims understanding, awareness of competitive products, as well as related disease and patient management strategies. Shares learnings, information, and best practices with appropriate internal stakeholders. * Sets ambitious performance objectives that support the achievement of business targets. Provides ongoing feedback and coaching throughout the year to direct reports to enhance their scientific and disease state expertise as well as to improve the impact of their customer interactions. Supplements daily coaching with highly effective mid-year and annual feedback discussions for direct reports. * Lead team in strategic analyses of their local customers; uncovering key opportunities for growth, and adapting call activities to fit local dynamics. Effectively and efficiently manages resource allocation, including trade-off decisions, across customers and representatives. Establishes a high-performance team built on a culture of trust and collaboration, ethical and compliant behaviors, and a dedicated focus on science-driven customer interactions. * Works collaboratively with other functional areas to identify and respond to local opportunities and customer needs. Qualifications Experience and Qualifications: * College degree is required * Resident location in the region is required (Bakersfield to Greater Los Angeles California) * Minimum of 5 years pharmaceutical or healthcare sales experience (prior Therapeutic Area or biologics experience highly desirable), must have field sales management experience. * Prior experience in other commercial functions is preferred (e.g. Marketing, Managed Markets). * Demonstrated success in translating vision and strategy into tactical plans to drive business and ability to develop and execute localized business plans is crucial. * Must have strong sense of self-motivation/initiative, excellent decision-making judgment, strong teaming/collaboration skills (across functions) and the ability to learn and adapt to environment in order to overcome obstacles. Must be resilient and adaptable - – ability to recover from setback and problems and learn from mistake. * Effective communication, presentation, and decision-making skills (particularly in resource allocation) and exceptional ability to clearly communicate and articulate strategy and tactics in a way that motivates and energizes customer team is important to this role. * Experience working with Specialty Pharmacies, Distribution Hubs, and Managed Care providers to ensure customers' and patients' needs are addressed is highly preferred. * Experience interacting with KOLs or high influence customers in large group practices, hospitals or managed care organizations is required. * Thorough understanding of customer segments and area market dynamics within all therapeutic areas.
