This position will supervise juvenile facilities in the Piedmont/Western Region.

The Regional Manager of Juvenile Facility Operations reports to the Director of Juvenile Facility Operations and is responsible for the overall management of Regional Youth Development Centers and Juvenile Detention Centers. To provide this management, the position is responsible for interpreting and implementing Department of Public Safety and Division of Juvenile Justice Facility policies and procedures, and providing consultation and direction in custodial matters, personnel management, programming, and fiscal operations.  This position provides direct supervision to Youth Development Center Directors and Juvenile Detention Directors within the assigned Region.

Management level supervision is provided to Facility Center Directors and key management staff to include Youth Development Center Program Managers, Business Officers, Administrative Specialists, Casework Associate, Staff Develpment Specialist, and Facility PREA Support.

Position has a contributing role on transfers from Juvenile Detention Centers to Youth Development Centers.  Position is a member of the Extension Review Committee and has a contributing role to recommend the extension of a Juvenile's stay with a Youth Development Center.  Position has the authority to create operating procedures, review decisions, prioritize and override decisions in any area of oversight when warranted.

The work schedule for this position is Monday

  • Friday 8:00am

  • 5:00pm. Position holder must be available to execute the duties and responsibilities of the position outside of the scheduled hours, as well as on weekends and holidays.

This position requires frequent travel and work within the Juvenile Facilities.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of business administration as applied to government programs.

  • Experience to select, train, and supervise employees engaged in specific programs or operational areas.

  • Experience initiating and implementing administrative programs and procedures, and to evaluate their effectiveness.

  • Demonstrated experience exercising judgment and discretion in establishing, applying, and interpreting a wide range of administrative policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated experience planning, assigning, and supervising the work of subordinate employees while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with agency personnel, officials, and the general public.

  • Experience relating with the population served: their families, professional and paraprofessional staff, and diverse public and private interest groups.

  • Knowledge of therapeutic programming for delinquent youth and methods to plan, implement, and evaluate a wide range of treatment programs.

  • Experience in management techniques and human resource development aspects of program management as they apply to a secure facility with certified staff.

MINIMUM E&E REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of program experience related to the area of assignment, including one year of supervisory program experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.SUPPLEMENTAL AND CONTACT INFORMATION
