Members of the Managed Solutions Consulting Group (MSCG) are regionally based product specialists who work with their assigned region/branches to increase the appropriate client adoption of Schwab's broad advised offering (including Schwab Private Client, Schwab Advisor Network, Schwab Intelligent Portfolios, Schwab Intelligent Advisory, Schwab Managed Portfolios and Managed Accounts).

The team works with regional market executives and branch managers to identify key needs in their market, determine and help implement effective growth and retention strategies, conduct 1-1 coaching with Financial Consultants so they can effectively articulate the unique value proposition of different solutions, and help the branches increase client engagement/outreach.

The team also supports internal field communications, manages product awareness, access for 3rd party asset management firms, coordinate/host events with both internal and 3rd party partners, promotes new product launches, and provides ongoing feedback as it relates to new products, services, pricing, and marketing support.

In addition, team members collaborate with our branch office and call center personnel to provide perspective and coaching on best practices on how to more fully understand and utilize the firm's advisory capabilities into their own business development and practice management activities.

What you'll do:

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a primary advisory business development and sales support resource to drive new managed investing enrollments and assets within the designated territory.

  • Work with leaders to create a customized growth and client retention strategy for each branch supported.

  • Conduct a high frequency of meetings, 1:1s, and sales consultations to support our client facing professionals in assessing, developing, and presenting solutions to clients and prospects.

  • Help coordinate speakers for, or act as a keynote speaker for, client educational workshops

  • The ability to build and sustain exceptional working relationships with Investor Services leadership (Market Executives, Branch Managers, Independent Branch Leaders, Portfolio Consulting, Acquisition Delivery, etc.), as well as the many internal specialty partner groups (Fixed Income, ThomasPartners, Windhaven, Charles Schwab Investment Advisory, Insurance & Annuities, Trading Solutions, Schwab Bank, etc.) to identify opportunities to support growth and product educational needs.

  • Help onboard new firms added to our retail Managed Account platform and manage ongoing wholesaling access for eligible firms.

  • The ability to build and sustain exceptional working relationships with Advisor Services leadership to support Schwab Advisor Network to ensure resolution of advisor issues, onboard new firms added to the matrix, help participating firms develop enhanced relationships with the branches and Financial Consultants, and support business development activities.

  • Responsibilities will also include providing ongoing, relevant "field" feedback and insight into all product marketing and distribution issues to client experience and product management groups.

  • Engage in consistent dialogue with Portfolio Consulting leadership to identify opportunities/challenges to drive growth of Schwab Private Client

  • Proactively engage to support the introduction of new advisory products, services, and tools.

What you have:

  • Position requires BA/BS required, MBA a plus.

  • Industry certifications (CIMA/CFP/CFA) preferred.

  • Typically a minimum of 10 years in the financial services industry with 5+ years experience in an investment management or sales management role.

  • Excellent product and technical knowledge of managed accounts, fee-based advisory programs, and ETFs/Mutual Funds.

  • Must possess excellent communication skills, including client facing and senior management level presentation skills, and ability to communicate with other Managers, Directors, and VPs in other enterprises.

  • Ability to partner with others to create tangible actionable business plans

  • Additionally, candidate must possess exceptional written communication, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Requires ability to influence others, teach general sales skills and deliver specific product and technical knowledge.

  • Strong customer focus, including ability to think in terms of customer experience/perspective.

  • Solid knowledge of Schwab organizational and business development procedures.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills. Ability to establish rapport with and influence Schwab colleagues

  • Demonstrated skills in sales education, business development tactics, and seminar delivery.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and implement a clear, focused business development strategy for area/group.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and achieve objectives without direct authority or direct reporting relationships.

  • Excellent working knowledge of Schwab Advice and understanding of Schwab's visions and values.

  • FINRA Series 7 and 66 required.

  • The ability to travel extensively (65%+) throughout an assigned region.

  • Have a strong understanding and grasp of the competitive landscape in the financial services industry and the variety of fee-based product platforms

  • Aptitude to engage and manage relationships with third parties (relationship management

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. The position will not have any direct reports, but will interact frequently with the team of other MSCG Regional Sales Managers.
