Job Description

We are currently seeking a Regional Manager, for the Account Specialist Team within the Autoimmune and Rare Disease (ARD) segment of Mallinckrodt, reporting directly to the National Sales Director of the Account Specialist Division. This position will be responsible for the overall performance of their assigned region by providing leadership to their sales team that creates a motivational environment, removes barriers, develops the team and sets the expectations of success in a compliant manner.


  • Hiring, developing, and directing the Account Specialists in the promotion of H.P. Acthar Gel in its assigned indications with a focus on Infantile Spasms (IS) and new product launches in this segment.

  • Shape & Implement Market Strategies that align with a changing marketplace

  • Implement and drive alignment with field based reimbursement and national account manager teams

  • Analyze Regional trends to develop and help implement associated territory action plans/business plans

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key accounts

  • Work cross functionally with other departments to enhance current Training Programs and implement additional sales and education programs as needed

  • Coach and motivate Specialists to overcome challenges and operate in a positive and growing environment

  • Responsible for overseeing region and territory sales goals, T&E, programming and compliance monitoring

  • Work with the National Sales Director on employee issues, growing sales, setting sales goals, deployment, and incentive plans

  • Support "pull through" roles and responsibilities of Specialists to help increase paid/shipped referral volume

  • Attend home office meetings to collaborate with others by contributing to the understanding of field sales needs, issues and opportunities and to seek understanding of the direction and programs from various departments being given to the field

  • Attend IS or launch related Conferences

  • Attend and evaluate HCP and patient speaker programs as needed


  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline required

  • Medical/Pharmaceutical experience with increasing managerial experience, including first level sales management

  • Demonstrated success in Hospital/Institutional selling, Account Selling, and experience working across/within Institutional/IDNs is required

  • Leading and managing Institutional/Hospital Sales teams

  • Demonstrated success launching products into Hospital settings (Rare Disease Products preferred)

  • Experience leading Institutional/Account Sales Teams (C-Suite to Pharmacy, P&T/Formulary experience) and Sales teams with Buy & Bill responsibilities (contracting responsibility preferred)

  • Experience in a specialty product/device requiring strong clinical selling skills, account management, and supporting customers in case by case reimbursement challenges

  • Additional experience within the Commercial Pharm/Biotech model required including, Marketing, Deployment, Incentive Comp and Sales Operations

  • This position will be responsible to oversee multiple sales Account Specialists

  • Field based position requiring a minimum of 50% travel including overnights

This person is responsible for planning and executing marketing and sales drives to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and continuously monitor channel performance. Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: * Targets - Defines key targets (e.g. volume, prices, mix) and ensures these are achieved for the channel partners in the specified market. Ensures detailed business plans with regular follow up are in place * Provides monthly and quarterly forecast updates with maximum accuracy * Systematically maintains funnel of opportunities in * Strategy - Defines and implements the channel sales strategy and budget and ensures regular follow-up. Responsible for providing channel strategy input for the Sales team, and for harmonizing the market sales and marketing plans. * Completes agreed upon sales plans with channel partners and assures regular follow-up of the agreed upon actions * Negotiations - Contributes in critical sales and key frame agreements negotiations. Supports Technical Sales Specialist in the offering and proposal process for channel partners. * Partners - Identifies and evaluates channel partners together with the support of Technical Sales Specialist and authorizes them with the approval of Sales management team. Manages annual performance assessment activities for channel partners. * Marketing - Coordinates sales and marketing efforts and pricing policies that require channel/segment partner participation. Ensures appropriate communication, promotion and training activities in the channel/segment * Channel management - Evaluates and certifies Channel partners. Ensures training for Channel and ABB personnel in aspects of marketing analysis, market segmentation, demand creation techniques, channel models and cost structures, effective channel program development and channel metrics. * Customer relations - Supports driving strategic partnerships, developing personal relationships with partners, customers and other decision makers. * Risk - Monitors client financial status and reports any changes regarding risk to relevant internal partner teams. Responsible for identifying and managing risk s relating to contract agreements and prices across customers/ channels/segments. * People leadership and development - Ensures (with HR Manager support) that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed.
