SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Interior Designer to join our industry-leading S&P 500 REIT. This role involves managing large-scale design solutions for senior living residential real estate. With over $70 billion in assets across 2,000 properties in three countries, this position will specifically support our US Northeast portfolio (VA, WV, PA, NY, ME, VT, NH, MA, RI, CT, NJ, DE, MD, DC). This is a field-based role, requiring a home office and occasional travel to properties within the assigned area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with department leadership to develop innovative, cost-effective design presentations that align with the company's brand identity and functional needs.

  • Research and select appropriate materials, finishes, furniture, fixtures, and equipment for all projects.

  • Incorporate principles of functional space planning, ergonomics, and ADA accessibility into design solutions.

  • Work closely with architects, engineers, onsite construction teams, division leadership, and vendors to ensure design intent is accurately implemented during the renovation phase.

  • Attend design presentations, progress review meetings, frame walks, project installations, final walks, and follow-up meetings as required.

  • Develop and maintain project budgets and deadlines in coordination with department and division leadership.

  • Monitor project progress and expenditures to ensure timely and budget-compliant execution, including reviewing proposals, contracts, and scopes of work.

  • Utilize AutoCAD for space plans, specifications, and elevation details as needed; proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam is a plus.

  • Assist with managing vendor invoices for processing and payment as needed.

  • Stay current with design trends, building codes, regulations, and industry standards relevant to residential and commercial design.

  • Assist the VP of Design with special design projects as necessary.

  • Ensure smooth project management by maintaining clarity of requirements, deliverables, timelines, and visibility of fees throughout the project life cycle.

TRAVEL

This role will require regular travel (up to 50%) to properties throughout your region as well as travel to our regional offices as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Interior Design or a related field.

  • Preferred background in hospitality, multi-family, and commercial design; senior living design experience is not required.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; demonstrated rendering capabilities are a plus.

  • Ability to design and assemble documents from schematic plans through construction documents.

  • Understanding of Building and ADA codes is preferred.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong multitasking, prioritization, and deadline management skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a professional attitude.

  • Active and Unrestricted Motor Vehicle License: moderate travel (including overnight trips and flights) is required.

COMPENSATION

Salaries may vary by location. The range for this role in this market is $54,600 - $121,875 plus bonus and car allowance. Salary determinations are made based on numerous factors, such as, but not limited to, the relevant market and the skill, experience, and education of the selected candidate.
