Regional Emergency Operations Center Data Specialist
BA/BS Degree in Environmental policy or sciences, engineering, chemistry,
biology, occupational safety, public health equivalent. The ability to manage,
manipulate and visually display complex data for a wide variety of audiences. OR
Minimum of 5 year(s) of experience in Business Administration and/or Data
Management. Previous training in: information management, technical writing or
Good verbal and writing skills, ability to work independently, familiarity
with current office computer programs and equipment. Experience with data
reporting software, such as the Risk Management Program CDX, National Oil
Database and associated Agency Oracle databases. Ability to navigate web based
programs such as WebEOC.

Position provides technical support and analysis to the Superfund Division's
Emergency Management Branch (EMB). Coordinates and enters or assists in the
entry of data in several HQ + Regional databases including: tracking numbers of
NRC calls, received, responses completed, trends in activations of OSC and
contractors for responses; synthesis of data from reports of spills or releases
of oil and hazardous substances; track schedule changes for watchstander and
responder; tracking Oil and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation,
and Liability Act CERCLA removal site progress and track training of Branch
personnel. Update inspection and enforcement status of Office of Public Affairs
(OPA) section 311 and section 112(r) of the Clean Air Act (CAA). Generates
reports and graphs to illustrate program metrics and progress of commitments.
Assists the EMB management updating progress toward reaching
national/regional/division commitments and measures.
Enters data for EMB staff in several databases and ensures quality
assurance. Some familiarity with chemistry or government helpful. Strong eye for
detail required 40%
Generates/reviews/analyzes data reports for EMB, which contribute to overall
program management and compliance data and actions. Must understand how to
navigate several databases to product reports and meet deadlines. 25%
Assists EMB staff in creating effective ways to visualize data, including
charts, graphs and other display methods. 25%
Stays current with database and regulatory program updates and training.
Information Security and Privacy Awareness Training
If generally suited to the work and expectation, EPA will provide training
to fill any gaps.
