What are we looking for?

An electrical engineer to support our manufacturing facilities located in Chester SC, and Roebuck SC. The ideal candidate will serve as a maintenance and project technical resource and strategically assess plant needs and areas for improvements. The role will troubleshoot maintenance issues, supervise technical repairs and manage capital improvements. The ideal candidate will be committed to safe work practices.

What you'll own in this role:

  • Analyze plant processes, design and implement improvements.

  • Serve as Project Manager for capital projects related to electrical systems.

  • Assess long-term electrical asset needs for the sites, to feed the 5-year capex plans. Help develop CAPEX needs for the sites.

  • Evaluate and improve sites' maintenance strategies.

  • Work with Maintenance/Electrical Techs to troubleshoot difficult problems

  • Manage and index electrical system documentation.

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for sites' electrical infrastructure including design, implementation, inspection and maintenance.

  • Understand manufacturing processes and process instrumentation. Collaborate with site resources to support continuous improvement goals and strategies.

  • Collaborate with peers within Synthomer across the US region and globally to develop control narratives.

  • Train Maintenance Techs and Electricians on electrical system, PLC and instrumentation troubleshooting.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related engineering field.

  • 2+ Years of experience in industrial electrical systems with working knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E

  • Ability to read piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), single line electrical drawings, loop sheets and similar technical documents.

  • Manage goals and responsibilities with minimal supervision. Work both independently and in team-based environments across multiple operations sites.

  • Project management skills

Qualifications that will set you apart:

  • Experience in a Chemical Manufacturing environment

  • Experience designing and installing instrumentation and control systems in hazardous areas (NFPA 70 Section 500 installations); class 1, division 1 and division 2 environments or IEC equivalence

  • Experience with electrical power distribution

  • Experience with industrial bus protocols such as Modbus, ASI, Profinet and EtherNet/IP
