Regional Director Job Description

Reports to: Vice President of Operations

As a Regional Director for the largest private school on a single platform in the world, this position is responsible for upholding our academic rigor while continuously evolving our teaching best practices within a collaborative, and creative work environment. This role supports the Vice President of School Operations Preschool in the delivery and consistent execution of a world class educational experience for our students within each and every Spring Education Group classroom in the Preschool space.

Leading a designated and innovative team of professionals, and collaborating closely with all operations stakeholders, this person directs and oversees all school operations at multiple sites within his/her geographic area as assigned by the VP of School Operations. The Regional Director is expected to be in the field at least 75% of the time.

Reporting into this position: Designated Heads of Schools/Principals

Key Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Provide transformational leadership, strategic focus, and academic excellence in alignment with Spring Education Group mission, values, and strategic imperatives

  • As designated by the VP of School Operations, oversee multiple campus operations, including quality measures for leadership, safety, school business goals, and classroom instruction. Ensure excellence in teaching is consistently executed within a nurturing environment for our students, families and employees

  • Conduct regular campus visits and report up to the VP of Operations on overall performance of each campus, providing quality control measures to ensure adherence and compliance to Spring Education Group standards, policies, budgetary and enrollment goals

  • Ensure each campus operates within budget and meets enrollment targets

  • Ensure that all health and safety measures are in place and audited at every campus

  • Assist in the continued development and implementation of a comprehensive leadership training program for both new and veteran leaders

  • Supervise, guide, mentor, train, retain, and coach campus leaders as assigned

  • Ensure our people practices support and align with our inclusive and high performing culture

  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, hire, onboard, develop, reward, and promote exceptional teachers, leaders, and campus staff

  • Partner closely with the VP of Admissions and Enrollment, the Finance team, and the VP of School Business, to develop campus leaders who are savvy in managing and growing their campuses. This includes establishing clear goals and managing key performance indicators (e.g., academic outcomes, campus scorecards, dashboards, parent and teacher satisfaction surveys)

  • Observe, coach, and maintain high levels of teacher performance and consistent practices across campuses - ensuring all teachers receive regular feedback, coaching and development; provide instructional coaching to leaders

  • Work closely with the Education Team in attaining and maintaining accreditation and supporting the delivery of teacher professional development

  • Coach campus leaders to address performance issues with discretion and sensitivity. Provide accurate, timely and actionable feedback

  • Provide exceptional internal and external customer service and foster a diverse and inclusive school environment

  • Model personal professional development by attending seminars and conferences, and reading current theories/research on education, child development and leadership

Education and Work Experience:

  • BA or higher, with 5+ years of experience as Head of School leading school operations

  • Prior experience leading cross-functional teams with full oversight of all aspects of campus business

  • P-12 teaching experience or head of curriculum development, corporate L&D

  • Three to five years of successful multi-site management in education or related environment, preferred

Physical Requirements:

Position frequently involves long hours and widely diverse duties. Must be able to bend, stoop, and perform extensive walking. Occasionally, lift up to 30 pounds. Generally works in a standard office environment. Works in a fast-paced, environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a diverse array of contacts. Extensive computer time and extended periods of sitting. Travel by car and air is required.

The director is responsible to develop, coordinate, and implement all aspects of care and services for residents with cognitive impairment. This position is responsible for planning, developing, organizing, implementing and directing person-centered care programs and events in Senior Lifestyle Legacy Court for residents with Alzheimer's and other related types of dementia. The Legacy Court Director is responsible to provide a homelike social and physical environment; to assess resident's strengths, to identify resident's needs and provide services that promote each resident's highest level of physical, social, emotional and spiritual well-being. The Legacy Court Director works under the direction of the Executive Director and in conjunction with the Director of Wellness and all department heads. In addition, they are responsible for the selection, training and supervision of Legacy Court direct care team members and for partnering with appropriate outside agencies striving to improve care for persons with dementia. Essential Functions * Responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, and coaching Memory Care team. * Prepares team schedules and ensures adequate staffing levels * Assures proper training and certification of all Memory Care team members as required by Senior Lifestyle Corporation, and state and local guidelines. * Ensures all practices within the Memory Care meet or exceed Senior Lifestyle program standards. * Adheres to budgetary guidelines and maintains unit census according to community budget. * Maintains all required resident records and department documentation. * Performs admission assessments and in-house assessments in partnership with the Director of Wellness and the marketing team. * Maintains appropriate expectations and defines success based on each resident's abilities. * Ensures that the Memory Care prosthetic environment is clean, safe, and orderly with intact, appropriate themed programming spaces and life skill stations. * Supports the resident's family in understanding the challenges of dementia and resolving any concerns. * Initiate, develop, and refine a monthly support group for family members and outside caregivers. * Confers with Director of Wellness in developing, implementing, and documenting a multi-disciplinary comprehensive resident service plan for each Memory Care resident. * Supervises the Legacy Court team to assure that all 6 dimensions are provided daily. Programs and Events follow the SLC guidelines and that all team participate in engaging residents individually and by leading groups. * Models appropriate interventions and communication with residents. * Coaches team in day to day techniques of ADLS. * Train, schedule, and coach care team to keep them informed regarding programs and events and their role and responsibilities in leading assigned resident programs. * Plan and publish a monthly newsletter and calendar of events, weekly and daily schedule of events. Conduct scheduled programs in a timely and organized manner. * Manage and maintain themed programming spaces, life skills stations and shadow boxes for residents. * Provides assistance with housekeeping, laundry, meals, personal care, programming and medications as needed. * Monitor and care for all equipment and supplies used by the programs department. Assess need for maintenance and repair of equipment and supplies, and secure needed service and payment for service. * Obtain information through a formal new resident assessment concerning the residents' background, lifestyle, and interests to better provide programs that meet their needs. * Maintain daily communication with, and between, Executive Director, Director of Wellness and the wellness team. * Serves as liaison with social worker, or coordinates social services needs such as discharge planning, hospice. etc. * Is actively engaged in the local Alzheimer's community * Assist in providing sales tours through Legacy Court * Reacts appropriately in all emergency situations. * Attends regularly scheduled management meetings. * Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent information. * Possesses strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines * Interacts professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization, residents, family members, etc. * Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Consistent with state regulatory requirements, if any, for the position. * A degree in psychology, gerontology, therapeutic recreation, nursing or a related degree. * Strong background in assessing residents' behavioral symptoms and developing non pharmacologic approaches to meeting their needs. * Must be able to relate professionally and positively to facility staff and to work cooperatively with associates of all levels and to represent Senior Lifestyle Corporation in the local community. * Demonstrated abilities in organization, communication public speaking, enthusiasm and effective interpersonal skills. * Desired: Two years' experience in direct management in providing special care for persons with dementia.
