The Regional Director of Business Development is responsible for developing, managing and expanding the Home Health Division. They are responsible for representing the program in the community; for overseeing the daily and long term of the program along with participating in and implementing the strategic plan. They assure the AVP of Sales Program is functioning consistently with Corporate Standards. They are a member of Senior Staff and represents the Program at Senior Staff meetings as directed. Bili

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business or Healthcare Administration, substantial high level related work experience may be substituted.

  • Capacity for mature business decisions and judgments.

  • Two years relative experience in a healthcare environment.

  • Experience working with a Medicare/Medicaid licensed health care program.

  • Active membership in professional, community and/or civic organizations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated relationship builder and trustworthy leader.

  • Demonstrated high ethical and moral standards of behavior.

  • Must possess public speaking and presentation skills.

  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Financial

  • Develops and recommends strategic sales plans and budgets.

  • Accountable for the sales viability of the designated programs.

  • Support leadership and managerial decision making with regular, timely reporting of programs' results to management.

Admissions Development and Contract Management

  • Manages the implementation phase of contracts with facilities and physicians.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with key officials of facilities such as hospitals, NH's, ALF's, managed care organizations.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with referral base: such as individual physicians, physician practices, facility administrators (NH, ALF, hospitals), and other community based organizations.

  • Oversees complaint resolution process to assure smooth operation of contracts and ongoing referrals.

  • Develops strategies to ensure that volume projections are achieved for designated program.

Management

  • Assures an effective management team for designated program in order to obtain strategic initiatives and operational goals.

  • Promotes a positive internal climate based on the organization's values.

Public Relations

  • Establishes and maintains positive public relations with community and business leaders, politicians, and other key individuals.

  • In conjunction with Corporate Communications, participates and responds to media opportunities.

  • Identifies and collaborates to secure fundraising opportunities with the Development Department.

  • Assures the handling and resolution of any complaints from patients, families, and the public.

  • Work with corporate staff and corporate consultants to advocate for program at state and federal level.

Compliance

  • Achieves and maintains applicable accreditations. Follows the company's systems, policies, and standards assuring the designated program passes all inspections, surveys, reviews, for licensing and certifications such as for CMS, AHCA, and Accreditation bodies.

  • Ensures compliance with all administrative functions and policies with regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EEOC and Department of Labor, for example by maintaining proper personnel and confidential files, staffing records, incident and injury reports.

  • Assures compliance with all applicable regulations, statutes and parent company administrative policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrates personal leadership and ethical business practices.

General

  • Ensures a safe, efficient, adequate work environment for employees, clients and volunteers.

  • Ensures that building(s) maintained, disaster planning is conducted, equipment is functioning supplies available, computer system working, etc.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Special Demands/Physical Requirements:

This position may sometimes require medium/heavy lifting. Normally such lifting will involve but not be limited to, assisting with transfer/repositioning of the patient either in the home or nursing facility. The position is also mentally demanding because of the continual need of assessing and evaluating clinical aspects of the patient's care. This position requires considerable time traveling in a motor vehicle in connection with performing essential functions of position.

Position Summary: The Home Health Medical Director will be responsible for the general supervision of patient care within the team to which they are assigned, and for special program services, when assigned. Establish and maintain working relationships with Chief Medical Officer, Corporate Medical Officer, President/CEO, Branch Administrator, Clinical Managers, Physician Reimbursement and other disciplines, employees, families, other agencies and the public. Provide physician input into policies and procedures, as requested. Assist and support attending, consulting, or referring physicians as well as other Covenant Care Home Health Care Physicians. Participate in staff and medical community education as requested. Qualifications: Home Health Medical Director must be a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy who is licensed in the State of Florida or, for the Alabama service area, within the state of Alabama, pursuant to applicable state statutes. Have a minimum of two (2) years experience as a practicing physician. Must possess a valid Florida or Alabama driver's license and current automobile insurance, as applicable. Possess board certification in a recognized medical specialty. Possess admission privileges in at least one hospital in the service area. Support and identify with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Covenant Care Home Health Care. Main Duties and Responsibilities Functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Group, as assigned. Advises and consults, as requested, with attending, consulting, and referring physicians, as well as other Covenant Home Health physicians Advises and consults, as requested, with pharmacists, nursing home medical directors and other professionals who are participating in the care of Home Health patients. Establishes and maintains liaison with physicians' professional organizations. Participates in Patient/Family conferences, as requested. Assists in the development and implementation of Plans, as assigned. Supervises patient care and support by the Interdisciplinary Group, when assigned. Evaluates and advises on written policies and procedures as requested. Assists in establishing written protocols for symptom control, as requested. Assists in the development and approval of Medical Staff By-Laws, as requested. Participates in Home Health training for volunteers, physicians and others as requested. Prepares and presents educational sessions, as requested. Makes patient visits and performs medical evaluations/treatments, when mutually agreed. Provides dietary evaluation and counseling to patients within the plan of care, as necessary. Provides input into performance improvement and utilization review activities, as requested. Provides educational training to visiting medical students, PA students, nursing students, as mutually agreed. Continues education in Home Health and Palliative Medicine. Demonstrates knowledge in principles of primary medicine with particular emphasis on symptom control and end of life issues. Participates in and ensures availability with other physicians of "call" coverage for Home Health patients on a 24-hour 7-day basis. Attends and participates in local Medical Advisory Meetings. Provides or ensures provision of timely input and signatures for Home Health documentation. Assumes care or arranges for assumption of care by a Home Health-employed physician for patients who have no attending physician or at the request of the referring or attending physician. Assumes the management or arranges for the assumption of management of palliation of symptoms at the request of the attending physician. Performs palliative care consultations for patients who are not Home Health patients at the request of the attending physician. Ensures ongoing QA/UR monitoring through routine chart reviews. Ensures that patients are seen at admission and at regular intervals thereafter. Ensures that patients are seen when assigned to inpatient or continuous care status. Ensures that patients on inpatient status are seen daily when possible. Required to comply with all Covenant Care Home Health Care Policies, Procedures and Personnel Policies, including those specifically addressing disaster preparedness and response. When on rotation in the inpatient facilities, coordinates with other Home Health physicians to maintain continuity and quality of care, appropriate visits, and documentation. Works effectively with volunteer services to identify patient/family needs that can be met by volunteers; offers volunteer services to patients and families, as needed, throughout their length of stay; requests volunteer services to meet identified needs; documents volunteer interventions in the Plan of Care. Determines the patient is Home Health appropriate, documents to the patient's terminality, and establishes and maintains the care plan for medically necessary assessments and services. This applies to determinations and consultations with members of the IDG, including the Attending Physician or Home Health physician, in all circumstances in which the level of care is to be assigned as Short-term Inpatient Care or Continuous Care, and includes all actions required in Covenant Care's policies and procedures regarding the placement or removal of a patient from those categories of care. As a member of the Interdisciplinary Group, is responsible for determining and documenting the level of care status of patients, and in particular, inpatient level of care, to ensure the patient is appropriate and meets the criteria for short-term care needed to manage pain and symptoms in an inpatient facility. This responsibility includes appropriate management and documentation with the patient's change in status either to short-term inpatient care or removed from that status, and all monitoring of the care during the inpatient period. This same requirement applies to management and documentation of patients who are placed on a Continuous Care level of care.
