This position is located in the Department of Labor, Office of Labor Management Standards (OLMS). There are a total of four positions and they will be located at any the following duty locations:

Cincinnati and Cleveland, OH; Detroit, MI, Milwaukee, WI, Chicago, IL, Boston, MA, Buffalo and New York NY; Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, PA; Atlanta, GA; Nashville, TN; Dallas, TX, New Orleans, LA, Washington, DC, Denver, CO, St Louis, MO, Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA.

As Regional Director, the incumbent provides executive leadership in planning, directing, carrying out, and assessing regional compliance and enforcement activities pursuant to the LMRDA and related Federal and State civil and criminal laws, regulations, policies, and administrative and court rulings. In addition, the incumbent: (1) represents the Agency with various Departmental, Federal, and State agencies, employers, and labor organizations; (2) develops Regional Office programmatic policies and strategies; (3) develops and justifies requests for staffing and financial resources and determines the appropriate allocation of these resources based on enforcement plans and priorities, and is accountable for their use; (4) participates, as a member of the OLMS executive staff, in the formulation of Agency policies, positions, and program directions; and (5) chairs and participates in executive-level policy-making intra-agency, inter-agency, and intergovernmental task groups and committees developing initiatives, solving problems, and evaluating proposals with agency-wide impact and significance.

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level close to the work of this job that has given you the particular subject-matter knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform. Typically, we would find this experience in work within the field or a field that is closely related. You must demonstrate possession of specialized experience in the described duties.

5.Building Coalitions: This core qualification involves the ability to build coalitions internally and with other Federal agencies, State and local governments, nonprofit and private sector organizations, foreign governments, or international organizations to achieve common goals.

MANDATORY TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (MTQs): In writing your narrative responses to the MTQs, please give examples and explain how often you used your skills, the complexity of the knowledge possessed, the level of people you interacted with, the sensitivity of the issues you handled, etc. APPLICANTS SHOULD LIMIT THEIR RESPONSES TO ONE (1) SINGLE SPACED PAGE PER EACH MTQ WITH THE FONT SIZE NO SMALLER THAN POINT 12. It is recommended that applicants draft their MTQs in a Word document first, then cut and paste into the spaces provided following each MTQ to ensure length requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate program efforts with other internal and external organizations, represent the organization to key individuals and groups outside the immediate work unit, as well as serve as spokesperson for the organization.

  • Demonstrated experience as a Criminal Investigator (1811) or Civil Investigator (1801) in advising, developing, implementing, and managing investigative policies, procedures, and standard practices for a Federal law enforcement agency.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex statutory and regulatory guidance related to governmental programs, policies, issues and problems; and demonstrated ability to collaborate and provide input on major policy initiatives.
