The Successful Regional Development Director:

  • Grows his/her market by attracting high quality, diverse talent into financial representative (FR) roles

  • Ensures new FRs are given the tools, resources and knowledge needed in order to be successful in their new role.

Job Description

Attract, Recruit and Select Diverse Talent

  • Create and implement a recruiting strategy to grow capacity by attracting and cultivating quality, diverse FR candidates in focus market.

  • Execute a plan to recruit quality talent by spending focused time developing trusting relationships within broad and diverse networks, leveraging centers of influence and obtaining referrals from FRs for quality, diverse talent

  • Partner with other Thrivent leaders/key stakeholders to develop capacity plan.

  • Collaborate with assigned recruiter and leverage his/her expertise in recruiting and selection systems.

  • Actively manage a pipeline of high quality, diverse candidates,

  • Conduct selection interviews and assess candidates for high probability for success.

  • Create followership by demonstrating enthusiasm for the career and for Thrivent and by caring about the success of others.

Develop New FRs and Support the Launch of New FR Practices

  • Demonstrate mastery of the Thrivent Financial Advice Process (Connecting with members, data gathering, case analysis, taking action and asking for referrals) and be able to model and coach on all elements.

  • Conduct high levels of joint field work (approx 3 days per week) as scheduled by new FRs to observe and offer feedback, and help with case prep as needed.

  • Demonstrate, model and coach on the use of Salesforce and other Thrivent tools (i.e. CAP, Illustrations, etc.) during the sales process.

  • Be available to FRs to develop their goals and conduct meetings with new FRs to discuss progress toward their goals, analyze what's working and not working and ways to overcome challenges and issues.

  • Be available to FRs to develop/execute a marketing plan to achieve their goals that leverage relationships within their natural market, referrals and communities.

Collaborate with Others

  • Inform and communicate with leadership team regarding FR (new and vet) progress toward goals and success.

  • Facilitate connections between new FRs and vet FRs to provide additional joint field work experiences or practice experiences for new FRs

  • Connect with corporate resources to stay informed of best practices or changes that directly impact recruiting, launch and vets

  • Demonstrate ability to use technology effectively with FRs to assist in coaching and training

  • Build a plan with the Community Engagement team and others to develop and implement a plan to grow the region, and identify communities or congregations within the region on which to focus, using generosity and other marketing programs.

  • Build and maintain relationships with leaders within the Christian Community and centers of influence.

Manages Region

  • Engages in business planning to set strategy for region and to determine how to meet goals

  • Provides leadership and coaching to region team

  • Develops a healthy culture within the region, enabling good results and ensuring a culture of excellence in the region

  • Work with the Community Engagement team and others to develop and implement a growth plan, and identify key markets on which to focus.

  • Build and maintain relationships with leaders within the Christian Community and centers of influence.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Demonstrated track record of solid sales results (i.e. L/H/A, investments, etc).

  • Experience in using the Thrivent Financial Advice Process, Salesforce and other Thrivent tools and systems (i.e. CAP, Illustrations, etc.) and ability and willingness to model, promote and demonstrate usage of tools as needed.

  • Previous experience in attracting others.

  • Will and skill to commit to joint field work expectations.

  • Experience in leading groups, specifically in presenting and facilitating in order to drive understanding of concepts and practices that lead to new FR success.

  • Licensing:

  • FINRA Series 7, 63/65 or 66 required or obtained within 90 days.

  • State insurance licensed and appointed in life, health and variable lines of authority or attained within 90 days.

  • State securities registered and insurance licensed and appointed in all states that comprise the RFO area.

  • Once FRs are assigned to this position, this position will require securities registrations, state insurance licenses and appointments in all states where FRs are conducting business and receiving commissions.

  • Satisfactory background check and clean compliance record.

  • Flexibility to travel within the region (may include overnight) and conduct business during evening hours.

  • Must have own automobile to use for business purposes.

  • Demonstrated track record of satisfactory performance.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Four year college degree strongly preferred.

  • Professional designation or history of significant progress toward achievement preferred.

  • Regional Leadership Team; vet FRs; new FRs; RFO staff; corporate recruiting, launch and practice management teams.

This individual will be a technical expert in the area of road, bridge and utility construction management & inspection. This individual shall be responsible for project management and supervision of staff in the Regional Practice within a specific geographic region and may serve as senior project manager or Principal In Charge for projects within the regional practice. A primary element of the RPL position is to be outward facing and focus on developing new business opportunities to grow the regional practice. The Regional Practice Leader shall maintain active participation in professional and business organizations within their geographic region, lead the business development efforts within that region, manage practice leaders and support resources within that region and support the other Practices located within that region. The Regional Practice Leader shall also coordinate with the other Regional Practice Leaders within the CM Discipline to ensure optimum utilization of staff and resources. The Regional Practice Leader shall be a direct report to the Discipline Manager, who reports to the Transportation Market Leader. Specific duties of the Regional Practice Leader include the following: Complete Annual Individual Training Program. Prepare and deliver timely annual employee performance appraisals for assigned staff. Recruit and develop lower tiers of leadership with in the Regional Practice. Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence. Lead business development efforts within the region with a focus on coordinating marketing/proposal efforts and expanding KCI's service offerings and geographical footprint within the region. Develop and maintain customer relationships by soliciting monthly performance feedback, identifying client needs, and identifying the next project. Meet monthly with Discipline Manager, Operations Manager, and Practice Leaders to review financials. Work with the Market Manager, Discipline Manager, Regional/Practice Leader(s), and the CFO to develop annual budget between September 1 and November 15. Answer questions at monthly town hall meetings. Participate in at least one technical society committee. Comply with all KCI policies and procedures. Hire and manage work routine of all assigned staff and assign job activities as required. Meet annual Performance Agreements targets. Meet monthly or more frequently as necessary with the Market Leader and Discipline Manager. Complete other duties as required/assigned. Participate and contribute to annual leadership meeting(includes PLEP training). Participate in and contribute to regional office forums annually. Actively participate in the development of the regional contribution to the Discipline annual business plan and strategic plan. Represent KCI in technical societies and community organizations. Review annual Employee Satisfaction Survey and implement required corrective actions. Review monthly resource allocation plan with practice leaders. Ensure inter-practice resource allocation for efficiency. Conduct annual market research between June 1 and August 31 with Discipline Manager. Grow the regional practice by adding new clients or services within the assigned region. Provide market trends to the Discipline Manager for the strategic planning sessions. Provide project and client leads to other regional practice leaders to grow their regional practices. Chart and coordinate practice performance results. Deliver all projects on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope. Meet biweekly or more frequently as necessary with project team on all projects/tasks greater than $50K in fees. Meet monthly with clients to review project progress. Monitor effective use of equipment and personnel. Negotiate scope, schedule, and fee estimates for large and significant projects. Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters. Prepare monthly progress reports and invoices for projects. Provide monthly Oracle project updates to the project analyst. Provide monthly WIP/AR comments to the operations manager. Provide technical project and staff oversight. Provide weekly new project budget data to Operations Manager for entry into Oracle. Serve as project manager on large or significant projects. Develop project specific safety plans. Ensure compliance with all Federal, state, and local safety rules and regulations. Experience 15 or more years of professional experience in construction management/construction inspection (CM/CI) within the Transportation Industry. A thorough knowledge of State DOT (primarily SC and NC) and Municipal standards, processes, and requirements. Successful experience in State/County/municipal transportation CM/CI practices also desired. A record of increasing responsibility, progression in positions of leadership and project profitability responsibility for construction management/construction inspection related business units. Knowledge and experience in Design Build and Public/Private Delivery Methods, as well as other innovative design and construction delivery methods within the transportation field. Active membership and/ or interest in a construction industry-related professional societies. Familiarity with SCDOT & NCDOT transportation design and CEI practices and procurement processes. Demonstrated experience managing CM/CEI practice(s). Ability to develop and manage project and business unit budgets. Demonstrated experience managing profit/loss for a business unit. Experience introducing and implementing technology and innovation in the delivery of KCI service (survey technology, mobile field solutions, digital documentation, drones, etc.) Demonstrated ability to engage with and promote collaboration with other KCI practices to develop new business. Experienced leadership, motivation and management of other senior to mid-level managers (peers and subordinates) to achieve mutually beneficial results. Demonstrated commitment to KCI's mission, vision and values. Skills Excellent Business, Leadership and Communication skills. Ability to make important decisions.
