JOB SUMMARY

This position will be a key member of CoolSys' controllership function. The responsibilities include the maintenance of a system of accounting records, the design, implementation and maintenance of comprehensive controls; consistent and timely reporting of monthly results and metrics; forecasting and budgeting. Ideal candidates will have a proven accounting background in the construction/service industry and experience in percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting. Additionally, candidates will possess superior leadership skills, and enjoy the process of building and developing customer service-oriented accounting and administrative teams.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project/Business Responsibilities:

  • Prepare financial reports and track against budgets and forecasts by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data.

  • Prepare and manage monthly financial statements on a timely basis.

  • Support management in analyzing financial results and delivering monthly management discussion & analysis reports

  • Directly manage account payable, cash disbursements, inventory, fixed assets, general & entity accounting and cost accounting for the entity. Collaborate with department managers to ensure the accuracy and productivity of invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, and payroll.

  • Collaborate with the operations team to manage and track percentage-of-completion (POC).

  • Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly cash forecasts, including analysis of receipts and disbursements and variance analysis.

  • Establish key accounting processes including performing monthly cash and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, products costing, etc. when necessary.

  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.

  • Manage external audit process for the entity.

  • All other duties as assigned.

People Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the accounting team in order to guide financial decisions, establish, monitor, and enforce accounting policies and procedures to maintain a system of controls.

  • Develop accounting and financial staff through coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

  • Interface with customers and vendors to create alliances for best practices in daily operations.

  • Liaison with Project Management teams to support cost control and risk reduction.

Qualifications

Project/Business Management:

  • Education and/or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 7+ years of experience in accounting. A CPA is preferred.

  • 3+ years of construction or service industry experience.

  • Experience in conducting the cradle to grave month-end close process which includes but not limited to the preparation of journal entries, reconciling various balance sheet accounts including intercompany reconciliation, maintaining the fixed assets module, financial analysis and reporting

  • Proficient knowledge in the key areas of Payroll, AR, AP, Job Cost, Inventory, Cash Flow management and forecasting, and a solid understanding of Construction accounting (i.e., Percentage of Completion accounting)

  • Demonstrates and inspires innovation beyond the current status-quo in the industry

  • Ability to understand and follow all company policies and procedures and all applicable State and Federal laws.

  • Ability to use typical business tools including ERP systems, financial transaction systems, E-Mail, Word, Excel, etc.

People Management:

  • 5+ years of experience in a Supervisory or Leadership capacity.

  • Possess a high level of personal integrity, a strong work ethic, and a steady demeanor

  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of team; the environment tends toward all associates pitching in to solve problems and to train each other on key tasks.
