The Infrastructure Construction Management team builds the data centers that are the foundation upon which our software operates with efficient ease. Building and operating data centers the "right" way from the day they go live is synonymous with ensuring capacity availability and capital conservatism.

Architecting, constructing, operating and continually innovating the telecommunications and structured cabling infrastructure within our data centers is fundamental to ensuring high availability, the capacity to meet our extreme growth demands and obtaining the most robust and cost-effective online service in the world! The successful candidate will provide oversight for multiple projects on an on-going basis and provide loss control management oversight to the internal and external teams building our projects. Project locations will be based throughout the North American region.

Managing stakeholders located across all regions is a significant challenge and is key to the success of our projects. This position is full-time and located in Fremont, CA.

REGIONAL CONSTRUCTION SAFETY MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implementation, and refinement, of a Construction Loss Control Program to enhance our safety and risk management program.

Coordinate and provide direction, training, and mentorship for onsite construction teams and internal Facebook stakeholders to implement effective safety processes.

Oversee and coordinate site level loss control efforts.

Collaborate with our internal teams to monitor the safety programs on project sites and maintain a method to achieving a zero incident environment.

Provides managerial oversight for regionalized loss control staff - manages consistency on jobsites, ensures collaboration, and measures efficiency.

Measures effectiveness of region's safety efforts, and reports on region's cross-functional outputs.

Ensure internal processes are followed and align expectations for best in class safety performance.

Provide effort and input on global initiatives and programs.

Be actively engaged in maintaining cross functional relationships to foster cooperation and enhance safety endeavors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, or equivalent Health and Safety degree from an accredited university and/or minimum of ten (10) years experience in construction industry mainly focused upon Health and Safety - Experience working in North America building codes and health & safety regulations.

Minimum of 5 years of experience directly managing safety staff.

Experience working within a comprehensive safety program.

Demonstrated experience in implementation of Environmental Health & Safety enhancement programs.

Proven experience partnering with team members and contractors to implement change.

Knowledge in the design and deployment of technical electrical and mechanical systems as similar to data center construction processes.

Knowledge of standard practices in the design and construction industry, including knowledge of fast-track design-build process and associated documents and contracts.

Experience with ground-up construction and greenfield site development requirements.

Experience with retrofit projects in live mission-critical environments or occupied spaces.

Communications/reporting experience.

Experience with MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certifications recognized by Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).

Certified Safety Professional (CSP).

The data center engineering team thinks from chip to chiller (or electrical substation), determining configurations and ensuring maximum efficiency of our compute infrastructure. CONSTRUCTION MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES * Support Facebook Regional Construction Manager who manages the construction of multi-phased data center project Assist Facebook Regional Construction Manager on contractor, designer and vendor management Provide cost saving solutions and negotiate contractor change orders Assist with developing capital project budgets and provide ROM construction cost estimates Support Facebook Regional Construction Manager on-site inspection process Work with Procurement Department on equipment procurement and delivery process Provide weekly project status report (financial, schedule, Q/C) Manage tenant improvement or retrofit work in a live data center environment Manage warranty work program for existing data center buildings Provide construction consulting services to local Ops team and other cross-functional departments 10% travel to headquarters (Fremont, CA) Respond on an as-needed basis to emergencies MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or equivalent degree 7+ years experience in construction and project planning Data center development and construction experience Experience with ground-up construction and greenfield site development requirements Experience in construction management, capital budget management, and knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems Knowledge of industry standards, building codes and safety standards including fire protection regulations Negotiation experience and experience providing solutions to problems Experience with MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * eBuilder software experience Facebook's mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together.
