The Infrastructure Construction Management team builds the data centers that are the foundation upon which our software operates with efficient ease. Building and operating data centers the "right" way from the day they go live is synonymous with ensuring capacity availability and capital conservatism.

Architecting, constructing, operating and continually innovating the telecommunications and structured cabling infrastructure within our data centers is fundamental to ensuring high availability, the capacity to meet our extreme growth demands and obtaining the most robust and cost-effective online service in the world! The successful candidate will provide oversight for multiple projects on an on-going basis and provide loss control management oversight to the internal and external teams building our projects. Project locations will be based throughout the North American region.

Managing stakeholders located across all regions is a significant challenge and is key to the success of our projects. This position is full-time and located in Fremont, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implementation, and refinement, of a Construction Loss Control Program to enhance our safety and risk management program.

Coordinate and provide direction, training, and mentorship for onsite construction teams and internal Facebook stakeholders to implement effective safety processes.

Oversee and coordinate site level loss control efforts.

Collaborate with our internal teams to monitor the safety programs on project sites and maintain a method to achieving a zero incident environment.

Provides managerial oversight for regionalized loss control staff - manages consistency on jobsites, ensures collaboration, and measures efficiency.

Measures effectiveness of region's safety efforts, and reports on region's cross-functional outputs.

Ensure internal processes are followed and align expectations for best in class safety performance.

Provide effort and input on global initiatives and programs.

Be actively engaged in maintaining cross functional relationships to foster cooperation and enhance safety endeavors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, or equivalent Health and Safety degree from an accredited university and/or minimum of ten (10) years experience in construction industry mainly focused upon Health and Safety - Experience working in North America building codes and health & safety regulations.

Minimum of 5 years of experience directly managing safety staff.

Experience working within a comprehensive safety program.

Demonstrated experience in implementation of Environmental Health & Safety enhancement programs.

Proven experience partnering with team members and contractors to implement change.

Knowledge in the design and deployment of technical electrical and mechanical systems as similar to data center construction processes.

Knowledge of standard practices in the design and construction industry, including knowledge of fast-track design-build process and associated documents and contracts.

Experience with ground-up construction and greenfield site development requirements.

Experience with retrofit projects in live mission-critical environments or occupied spaces.

Communications/reporting experience.

Experience with MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certifications recognized by Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).

Certified Safety Professional (CSP).

Facebook is seeking a seasoned construction professional to join our Data Center construction team as a Geographical Construction Manager (Geo Manager) responsible for overseeing and guiding the development of several US based data center campus projects. The Geo Manager will have regional responsibility to formulate and maintain the business relationship and execution strategy across several general contractors, designers and suppliers involved with large scale, multi-phased data center projects (locations TBD). By partnering with our general contractors, subcontractors, design professionals and vendors, the Geo Manager will drive a culture of collaboration, safety and quality unparalleled in the data center construction industry. The Geo Manager will also be responsible to manage and develop the careers of internal staff located at the projects. The position will be based in Fremont, CA, although significant travel of up to 50% and onsite presence at the project site(s) is required. RESPONSIBILITIES * Within broad organizational focus areas, set the strategic vision for the site teams and interface with a wide variety of internal and external teams to achieve cross-program goals. Ensure a productive and mutually beneficial owner/vendor relationship with the GC. Set and maintain clear expectations for the partnership and how we will work together. Recruit, hire (as needed) and mentor a core team of 5-6 full time staff per campus, supporting the construction program. Contingent workforce staff planning and hiring is also a responsibility of this role. As a manager/leader, provide proactive feedback and performance management to ensure a high functioning team. Manage several lead construction managers (owner's onsite representatives) on multi-phased data center campuses with project locations TBD. Manage a portfolio of general contractor services supporting the ICM build program Partner broadly with vendor partners critical to the program's success to influence their strategy and execution in supporting ICMs mission. Provide structured feedback on their performance and partner to improve and optimize as needed. Negotiate construction contracts and change orders directly with the contractors and vendors. Proactively monitor construction updates, adhereance to KPI's and financial status. Build trusted business relationships with all cross-functional teams to ensure positive and collaborative working relationships. Role model/foster and encourage a high-performing, safety-focused culture across all teams, internal/external, involved in the program. Build robust communication channels and cultivate relationships to influence the strategy of partner organizations. Maintain consistent visibility across multiple teams and provide input on important initiatives that help the larger organization evolve to achieve it's vision statement. Coordinate multiple stakeholder requirements involved in the early turn over of phases within the program schedule. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or equivalent technical degree and/or 18+ years of experience in project planning and construction management. Experience with the design and deployment of technical electrical and mechanical systems. Experience with a variety of construction contract delivery methods commonly used in the US and/or APAC. Experience managing contractors, subcontractor and vendor relationships as well as experience working with standard practices in the design and construction industry. Experience with greenfield site development, ground-up and retrofit construction projects. Experience working with local, state, domestic and international construction build codes and health & safety requirements. Experience in Primavera P6, MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
