Job Title: Regional Compliance Manager Northeast

Job Summary:

The Regional Compliance Manager will be responsible for leading Corporate Compliance and Environmental Compliance efforts for the Vail Resorts Northeast operations including Stowe, Okemo and Mount Sunapee. This role will work with leadership and employees across business units to advance the compliance programs within the Northeast. Responsibilities include project management of compliance programs including environmental compliance (air pollution control, hazardous materials management, hazardous and universal waste management, water quality), local corporate compliance training, and monitoring and auditing activities. The Regional Compliance Manager is also expected to represent Vail Resorts and our Northeast resorts in environmental matters with the local communities and public agencies. This will include management and coordination of the Vermont Act 250 regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive corporate compliance programs including local implementation of culture and training initiatives, policy management programs, and monitoring and auditing projects across the Northeast resorts.

  • Design and implement corporate compliance monitoring and auditing projects to mitigate enterprise-wide compliance risks.

  • Initiate, oversee, and implement the environmental compliance program across the Northeast resorts.

  • Be an environmental compliance leader that drives innovative programs that inspire our employees which include air pollution control, hazardous materials management, hazardous and universal waste management, water quality.

  • Responsible for program management and oversight of environmental compliance program for on-mountain operations and hospitality. This includes the implementation of enterprise-wide air pollution control, hazardous materials management, hazardous and universal waste management, water quality programs, training operations groups, performing inspections, and auditing.

  • Review and analyze environmental documentation issued by the federal EPA, state and local regulatory agencies and determine impact on company operations. Liaise with Environmental Compliance leadership to publish compliance strategies and requirements.

  • Establish permit requirements and assists in EPA, state and local regulatory audits.

  • Support corporate compliance programs including local implementation of culture and training initiatives, policy management program, and monitoring and auditing projects.

  • Liaise with local leadership, mountain operations and health & safety teams to monitor compliance risks.

  • Support continued deployment of Enablon to manage inspections, audits, recordkeeping, and reporting.

  • Effectively communicate environmental compliance through various channels that will demonstrate leadership and drive employee engagement and reduce compliance risks.

  • Be a change champion for Ethics and our Do Right value and all associated programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Engineering degree preferred

  • 5+ years of experience managing projects in fast-paced, cross-functional environment

  • Self-starter; demonstrated ability to work unsupervised

  • Excellent learning agility and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and evolving team dynamic

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage upwards

  • Proficient in identifying and resolving issues independently solid sense of accountability and sound personal judgement

  • Ability to work with Sr. Level management and executives

  • Competent ski and/or snowboard abilities required

  • Hands-on, technical experience with environmental programs and policies

  • Ability to travel required

The Mountain Operations Supervisor will be responsible for the timely and fiscal operations of the lifts and summer adventure attractions (zipline and treetop course) and the recruiting, training and oversight of our mountain operations employees. Job Duties & Responsibilities * Be a Leader: Help lead the activities team in adherence to service standards, maintaining a safe work area and activity, efficiently performing daily operating procedures and equipment inspections, managing staffing levels, adapting to changing business needs, providing timely breaks, keeping the team's energy high, and providing rewards and recognition for our high performing staff. * Be a Trainer and Coach: Help to train employees to provide a high level of proactive guest service in all guest interactions. Constantly evaluate employee performance and provide timely, effective coaching. * Have Fun: Lead your team in providing experiences of a lifetime to our guests and fellow staff members. Reward and recognize your staff and proactively work to keep the team energy high all season. * Be Safe: Oversee and assist in building, performing maintenance, and repairs for designated activities as needed. Work with maintenance team to ensure a high level of safety and efficient operation of activities. Supervise the daily opening and closing procedures of activities. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Help develop and work within the operating budgets for Lift Operations and Summer Adventure programs. * Utilize company purchase order system. * Help to recruit, hire and train personnel according to company policy. * Help provide daily scheduling, assignments and supervision for Mountain Services and Summer Adventure. * Weekly payroll processing. * Help conduct worker safety program as required by the company. * Help conduct and write evaluations for seasonal and regular full time staff prior to season's end and in accordance with HR requirements. * Coordinate daily activities in the absence of the Sr. Lift Operations Manager. * Must be familiar with state/federal Tramway codes and conduct public transportation systems according to required regulatory/insurance standards. * Must be familiar/ ability to learn, Zip tour, Tree Top and Stowe Rocks operations and understand and follow codes and regulation regarding their operations. Qualifications: * College degree in business management, recreation or similar field preferred * Minimum of two years supervisory experience with proven strong supervisory and coaching skills * High level of competence with computer skill, including frequent data entry and spreadsheet applications. * Attentiveness to creating a quality experience for the guests. * Previous Resort experience preferred * Ability to communicate effectively with guests and co-workers, understanding that areas of direct responsibility dramatically affect the quality of the guest experience. * Ability to use, or learn to use, the following equipment: telephone, 2-way radio, computer. * Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record. * Must be able to or be able to learn to drive snowmobiles, ATV's and UTVs. * Proven experience in budget preparation and tracking, material requisitioning, recruiting, selecting, training and evaluating required. * Ability to perform physical activities that include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. * Ability to perform heavy work (defined as exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects).A * Ability to work in a potentially hazardous environment with exposure to a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts and electrical current. * Ability to ski or ride safely and confidently in all snow conditions and in varying types of terrain at all times. * Ability to work outside in various weather conditions and extreme cold for periods of more than one hour where temperatures are frequently below 32 degrees or above 90. This is a year-round position with an immediate start date.
